About FinlyWealthFinlyWealth is a Canadian financial product comparison platform.
We help people find the right credit cards, bank accounts, GICs, loans and brokerages, and we earn through affiliate partnerships with the banks and issuers behind those products.
On top of the comparison layer we run a cashback rebate program that pays real money back to our users.
We are a small, senior team that ships quickly.
There is no bureaucracy, no layers of approval, and no ticket queue you inherit from someone else.
The work is a mix of consumer-facing product, data infrastructure, partner integrations and financial logic that has to be exactly right, because real payouts depend on it.
We're now building the mobile side of the product, and that's why this role exists.
The roleWe're hiring one senior full-stack engineer to be the technical anchor for our mobile app while continuing to own meaningful backend work.
You'll report directly to the CEO and CTO.
You'll be the second engineering voice in the room.
That means you'll help decide how the mobile app is architected, how it shares logic with the web platform, and what our release and testing process looks like.
You'll write the majority of the code you design, and you'll be in the details of the data model, the API surface and the deployment pipeline, not just the UI layer.
This is a builder's role, not a maintenance one.
What you'll doShip our mobile app from zero.
Architecture, navigation, state management, offline behaviour, push notifications, app store releases and everything in between, using React Native.Shared systems between web and mobile.
Design the API contracts, typed clients and shared business logic so we're not maintaining two divergent products.Backend and data.
Node.js and TypeScript services, PostgreSQL schema design and migrations via Prisma, background jobs, and the integrations that pull in product and rate data. The rebate and rewards engine.
Transaction matching, reconciliation, payout logic and the accuracy work that comes with handling other people's money.Partner and affiliate integrations.
Bank and issuer feeds, tracking, attribution and click infrastructure.AI-powered product surfaces.
We're building an agent that answers real financial questions against live product data rather than stale model knowledge.
There's a lot of room here for someone who finds it interesting.Performance and SEO on the web side.
Organic traffic is the business.
Core Web Vitals, rendering strategy and page speed are engineering problems here, not marketing ones.
Our stackFrontend: Next.js, React, TypeScriptMobile: React Native (greenfield, decisions still open)Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, Prisma, PostgreSQLContent: MongoDB, Payload CMSInfrastructure: Vercel, DigitalOcean, S3You don't need to have used every one of these.
You do need to be strong in TypeScript across the stack and genuinely good at React and React Native.
What we're looking forRequired5+ years building and shipping production software, with meaningful time in a senior or lead capacity.Deep React and TypeScript experience.
You understand rendering behaviour, state management trade-offs and where performance actually goes wrong.Real React Native experience, including apps you've taken through the App Store and Google Play review process.Solid backend fundamentals in Node.js: API design, authentication, relational data modelling, queries you can reason about, and migrations you can run without fear.Comfort with PostgreSQL beyond basic CRUD.The judgment to work without close supervision.
You can take a loosely defined business problem, ask the right three questions, and come back with something shipped.Clear written communication.
We're remote-first and asynchronous by default.
Nice to haveNext.js App Router experience at scale.Native iOS or Android experience (Swift or Kotlin) for the moments React Native isn't enough.Fintech, payments, banking or affiliate/ad-tech background.Experience with LLM-backed product features, retrieval over live data, or agent tooling.Technical SEO and Core Web Vitals experience on a content-heavy site.Startup experience, particularly early-stage.
What this role isn'tIf you want a large team, a defined specialty and a well-worn roadmap, this isn't the right fit.
You'll be making decisions with incomplete information and living with the results.
Benefits & perksBase salary: $150,000 โ $190,000 CAD, depending on experience and depth of expertise.Bonus: Up to 10% of base annually.
Half is tied to your individual performance, half to company performance.Benefits: Extended health and dental, vacation days, home office budgetRemote-first: Work from wherever you're most effective in Canada.Vancouver preference: We'd like you within reach of Vancouver, BC so we can co-work in person from time to time.
It's a preference, not a filter for strong candidates elsewhere in Canada.
How we hireWe keep this short and respect your time.
Intro call (30 min): with our CTO.
Your background, what we're building, mutual fit.Technical conversation (60 min): a working discussion about architecture and past decisions you've made.
No algorithm puzzles.Practical exercise: a small, scoped take-home you'll be paid for, or a live pairing session, whichever you prefer.Founder conversation (45 min): the business, the roadmap, compensation and your questions.Offer.
Target turnaround from first call to offer: about two weeks.
