We are looking for an engineer to help implement solutions & write beautiful code, working with various team members as we build out our consumer facing applications & the infrastructure that supports them. As a member of our Toronto team, you’ll work with highly-skilled engineers, who in collaboration with our other global teams, have turned HelloFresh into the #1 meal delivery service in the world! What You’ll Do: The Recipe Design, develop, and deploy software solutions across HelloFresh markets and brands, with a focus on building great experiences for our customers and internal usersTake ownership of features end-to-end, from understanding the problem and shaping the solution through development, quality engineering, deployment, and monitoringWork closely with Product Owners, Designers, and other engineers to turn customer and business needs into simple, scalable solutionsBuild modern, accessible, and performant frontend experiences using React, TypeScript, and related technologiesContribute across the full stack, including APIs, backend services, integrations, and data where neededParticipate in technical discovery, architecture, and design discussions, helping the team make pragmatic technical decisionsApply DevOps practices and engineering best practices to build, deploy, and operate reliable softwareUse AI coding agents as part of your everyday engineering workflow to explore, plan, develop, debug, and improve softwareContinuously develop your technical skills and share knowledge with the team through code reviews, pairing, mentoring, and technical discussions What You’ll Bring: The Ingredients An active, solution-oriented member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile team, collaborating with Product Owners, Designers, Backend and Frontend Engineers, and other stakeholders4+ years of professional software development experience working in an agile software development team2+ years of hands-on experience with React and TypeScript, or a similar modern JavaScript framework such as Angular or VueStrong understanding of frontend architecture, component design, state management, API integration, performance, and accessibilityProven experience delivering end-to-end features, taking ownership from initial implementation through deployment and monitoringHands-on experience with continuous delivery and deploying customer-facing applicationsExperience writing unit, integration, and functional quality engineering tests, as well as working with practices such as TDD or BDDSolid understanding of backend architecture, with the ability to work with APIs, service contracts, and backend engineers to deliver end-to-end solutionsExperience with server-side technologies such as Next.js, Nest.js, Remix, Node.js, or similarProficiency with GraphQL and/or REST APIs, with a working knowledge of SQL for data exploration and product requirementsExperience with monitoring and observability tools such as Honeycomb, Sentry, Datadog, or New RelicExperience working with experimentation, such as A/B or multivariate testingComfortable working with cloud-based applications, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practicesA solid understanding of product engineering principles and a willingness to challenge requirements and help identify the right solution for the customer and businessWorking knowledge of one or more backend languages such as Node.js, Python, Go, or JavaSolid hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot beyond casual experimentation. You use AI as a thought partner to navigate unfamiliar codebases, explore solutions, plan and implement changes, and improve your development workflow.
