Description

About the company Our client is building the intelligence layer for enterprise commerce, connecting an organization’s entire data landscape, internal systems, social signals, industry research, and consumer behavior, and turning that information into actionable insights and automated workflows. The company recently raised $14M in seed funding after spending nearly two years building in stealth and is now preparing for its public launch. The platform is already being used by some of the world’s largest retailers and is driving significant, measurable improvements to their businesses. The team is intentionally lean and operates with a high degree of ownership. Engineers have significant influence over what gets built, how it gets built, and how the technical foundation evolves as the company scales. The Role: Our client is looking for a Senior DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer to take significant ownership of the infrastructure supporting its enterprise platform. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who has built and operated production infrastructure in a fast-moving startup environment and is comfortable owning problems end-to-end. You’ll work closely with backend and ML engineers to architect, automate, secure, and scale the systems supporting mission-critical enterprise workloads. The team believes strongly in GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, automation, and giving engineers the tooling they need to move quickly without sacrificing reliability or security. What You'll Do: Architect and build secure, scalable AWS infrastructure using Terraform/TerragruntOwn and operate production Kubernetes/EKS environmentsDesign and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, replacing manual processes with automated and repeatable workflowsImplement and champion GitOps workflows for infrastructure deploymentsOwn production reliability, including observability, SLIs/SLOs, monitoring, alerting, and incident responseBuild compliance-ready infrastructure supporting SOC 2 and GDPR requirementsImplement IAM, secrets management, and infrastructure security best practicesOptimize cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and costBuild internal developer tooling and documentation that improves engineering velocityPartner directly with backend and ML engineers on infrastructure architecture and scaling decisionsHelp shape infrastructure strategy as the engineering organization grows What We Are Looking For: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience with significant hands-on DevOps, Infrastructure, Platform, or SRE responsibilityMeaningful experience working in a startup or smaller, fast-moving product environmentDemonstrated end-to-end ownership of production infrastructure, rather than responsibility for only one narrow piece of the stackStrong production experience with AWS2+ years of production Kubernetes experience; EKS strongly preferredDeep experience with Terraform/Terragrunt and Infrastructure as CodeHands-on experience implementing GitOps workflowsExperience designing and maintaining CI/CD systems using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similarStrong scripting ability with Python and BashExperience with production observability, reliability, and incident responseSecurity-first mindset and experience supporting compliance requirementsComfortable operating in an environment where priorities move quickly and engineers are expected to take ownership beyond narrowly defined responsibilities Former technical founders and engineers who have been early infrastructure hires are especially encouraged to apply. The client cares much more about what you’ve owned and built than having a particular title. Bonus Points: Experience supporting ML/AI workloads or GPU infrastructureService mesh or advanced networking experienceExperience supporting multi-tenant enterprise SaaS platformsCloud cost optimization / FinOps experienceExperience joining a startup early and helping its infrastructure scale through significant growth Why This Opportunity: The platform is already driving eight-figure gross margin improvements for some of the world’s largest retailers, while the company itself is still at an early stage. That creates an unusual infrastructure opportunity: enterprise-scale technical problems without an enterprise-sized engineering organization. You’ll have the opportunity to: Own a large portion of the infrastructure surface areaWork directly with backend and ML engineersSolve challenging problems across AI, distributed systems, enterprise data, security, and reliabilityHave meaningful influence over infrastructure architecture and engineering practicesJoin shortly after a $14M seed round with meaningful equity upsideSee the impact of what you build immediately Compensation: $160K–$200K base + meaningful equity Location: SoHo, New York City — primarily in-office (4–5 days/week, with some flexibility on Fridays) Benefits: Health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible PTO, and additional employee benefits
