Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS, IoT Business)

Join a digital solutions team building the cloud services behind connected IoT devices that are sold globally. This is a newly created role with clear ownership: you will take responsibility for the DevOps work currently shared by the development team, enabling them to focus on product delivery while you strengthen the platform's reliability, security and delivery capability. Your responsibilities • Own and continuously improve the DevOps capability for an established AWS cloud platform. • Manage kubernetes containerisation, deployments, release activity and supporting test processes across the platform. • Keep services, libraries and tooling current, planning upgrades and replacing obsolete components before they become risks. • Monitor and improve platform stability, availability and security, and respond effectively to incidents and urgent third level support needs. • Make delivery more repeatable and efficient by improving automation, operational practices and the handover between development and production. • Collaborate with inhouse developers and specialist external partners • Contribute to interfaces, APIs and backend development in Java and Spring Boot where useful. What we are looking for • A senior DevOps engineer who can take independent ownership after a focused introduction to the platform. • Strong hands on experience operating cloud based production systems, including containerised applications, deployments, monitoring, security and incident response. • AWS experience is preferred. Deep Azure experience is also welcome if you are ready to transfer your knowledge to AWS; AWS certifications are an advantage. • A practical understanding of software delivery and the ability to work effectively with developers, APIs, integrations and connected products. • Java and Spring Boot experience is useful but not essential for someone who wants to focus fully on DevOps. • A relevant degree or equivalent depth of professional experience. • Clear, reliable communication and the motivation to work in a lean team where your contribution will be visible. • Professional English is essential because team meetings and documentation are in English. German is valuable in the wider Swiss business but is not a barrier for an exceptional candidate.
