Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Software Engineer to join our Joint Systems Capability team in Brisbane. In this role, you will contribute to the enhancement and sustainment of the Wakulda Air Battle Management System, a critical capability for Australian Defence. Working within a high-performing engineering environment, you will collaborate with engineers to develop, integrate, test and verify software solutions. This role is designed for an early-career engineer who excels at delivering quality outcomes in a highly complex technical environment Key Responsibilities include: Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and industry standards.Collaborating with the project team to identify, mitigate, and manage technical risksResolving moderately complex issues related to product integration and production anomalies.Ensuring a clear understanding of engineering and technical requirements and verification processes.Communicating the status of engineering deliverablesDeveloping and documenting solutions through drawings, data sets, reports, specifications and supporting data.Developing and updating engineering change management artifacts (including test procedures, deviations and test reports)Developing, integrating, testing and validating software solutions to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements. Candidates for this role should be able to demonstrate: A minimum of 2 years of experience in complex technical development and integration projects.A minimum of 2 years professional experience in software developmentStrong communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and communicate with various stakeholdersKnowledge of version control systems (eg., Bitbucket, Jenkins)Strong Attention to detail when following and creating documentation and codeAbility to follow an engineering lifecycle Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience This role supports an environment that has security considerations and is both Windows and Linux based, so virtualisation and networking knowledge would be advantageous. Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements. Holding an existing NV1 or Baseline clearance level would be highly beneficial, along with any experience in Ratheon-Solipsys MSCT product.
