About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Web Developer to join the University System of New Hampshire’s dynamic IT team.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database-driven websites and applications across USNH institutions.
Your focus will be on delivering exceptional user experiences, ensuring accessibility compliance, and optimizing for search engines.
You will lead technical projects, extend existing platforms such as Drupal and WordPress using PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and SQL, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions.
A key aspect of this role involves integrating artificial intelligence into workflows to improve efficiency and functionality while maintaining secure, auditable coding practices.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience in web development, particularly with PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and SQL, is essential.
Familiarity with content management systems like Drupal and WordPress is required, including experience extending and customizing these platforms.
Strong understanding of web standards, accessibility, and SEO best practices is necessary.
Experience integrating AI tools and workflows into web applications will be considered a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are vital.
Prior experience working within higher education or large organizational settings will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain responsive, standards-compliant websites and applications tailored to the needs of USNH institutions.
Collaborate with content creators, designers, and stakeholders to ensure websites are accessible, user-friendly, and optimized for search engines.
Extend and customize Drupal and WordPress platforms using PHP, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies to meet specific institutional requirements.
Implement AI-driven features and workflows to enhance site functionality and operational efficiency.
Ensure all code adheres to security best practices, is thoroughly tested, and is auditable for compliance purposes.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing websites and applications.
Stay updated with the latest web development trends, tools, and best practices, and recommend innovative solutions to improve system performance and user engagement.
Participate in cross-functional team meetings, contribute to project planning, and document technical specifications thoroughly.
Assist in training staff and end-users on new features and best practices for website management.
