About The Role We are expanding our cloud platform and infrastructure and are seeking experienced and highly motivated IT specialists in the field of Cloud Engineering and Architecture, with a focus on Google Cloud. As a Senior Public Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a Terraform-based infrastructure that facilitates seamless and automated migration of workloads to the cloud. Working within an agile, interdisciplinary team, you will have opportunities for continuous professional development and skill enhancement. Your primary responsibilities include the conception, support, and operation of cloud architectures during workload migrations to Google Cloud, as well as the ongoing development and improvement of our Google Cloud platform, especially concerning virtual machines (Compute Engine). You will create, implement, and optimize frameworks for cloud-based infrastructures and applications, prioritize requirements in the backlog and roadmap of the VM platform, and collaborate closely with technical product owners to promote application migration by demonstrating the benefits of cloud solutions. Furthermore, you will establish standardized processes and mechanisms, advise on the implementation and commissioning of workloads in Google Cloud, and utilize modern automation, deployment (CI/CD), and infrastructure management methods to support complex cloud services and infrastructures. Qualifications Completed IT degree or an equivalent qualification with relevant IT expertise.Extensive experience in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, preferably GCP) and proficiency with Terraform (IaC).Experience with version control systems such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket.Basic knowledge of Linux and Windows server administration, networking, and load balancer management.Familiarity with Docker, Bash, PowerShell, and programming in Python.Willingness to define clear responsibilities and distinguish between tasks of your team and other departments.Ideally, knowledge of industry standards, security concepts, policies, and regulatory compliance within the insurance and finance sectors.Cloud certifications are advantageous; we support training and certification processes.Strong team orientation and excellent communication skills in German (negotiation level) and English (very good). Responsibilities Design, support, and operate cloud architectures during workload migrations to Google Cloud.Continuously develop and enhance the Google Cloud platform, focusing on virtual machines and related services.Create, implement, and refine frameworks for cloud infrastructure and application deployment.Prioritize and manage requirements within the backlog and development roadmap for VM platforms.Engage with technical product owners, advocating for application migration by highlighting cloud advantages.Establish standardized processes and mechanisms, providing guidance during the implementation and deployment of workloads.Apply modern automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices to ensure efficient and reliable cloud services.
