Description

About us: We build a cloud-based POS platform used by hospitality businesses every day. Our products handle real-time orders, payments, inventory, and AI-powered features. We're looking for a Senior Python Engineer to own our data, reporting, and inventory services and help us build the next generation of hospitality software. About the position: The ideal candidate is an experienced Python engineer who is comfortable owning a service end to end - from the data model and API, to the background jobs and scheduled pipelines, to shipping it and keeping it correct in production. You should be able to have a real conversation with product and other engineers about trade-offs, and disciplined enough to know that a report that shows the wrong number is worse than a report that is a little late. Our Python services power reporting, warehouse/inventory, and the scheduled jobs that keep everything in sync. Much of the work touches money and stock, so accuracy over speed matters - exact decimal math, correct aggregation, and careful handling of edge cases. A revenue report that double-counts a storno, or a stock level that drifts, is a real problem, not a rounding footnote. You will own the parts of the system where the numbers have to be right. Main responsibilities: Design, build, and own Python services (reporting, warehouse/inventory) and the APIs they expose.Build and own scheduled and background processing: Airflow DAGs, Celery workers, and SQS message consumers - with retries, idempotency, and sane failure handling.Get the numbers right: exact money math (Decimal), correct aggregation and filtering, and careful handling of edge cases like cancelled/voided receipts and non-VAT venues.Work with PostgreSQL day to day - queries, aggregations, and reasoning about the data behind a report.Turn product questions ("what did this venue actually earn last week?") into correct, explainable queries and pipelines.Own operational health of your jobs: meaningful errors, alerting on failed crons, and the ability to explain a number after the fact.Collaborate with product, backend, web, and QA to take features from specification to release.Keep correctness and regulatory constraints in scope from the start, not as an afterthought. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of professional Python development experience, including ownership of a service or a significant backend area.Strong Python skills, with production experience running real services and background jobs.Experience building APIs and scheduled/async processing (Airflow, Celery, queues).Solid PostgreSQL: you can write and read non-trivial SQL, reason about aggregation, and understand the data behind a number.A correctness-first mindset for data: exact decimal math, careful aggregation, and awareness of how easily a report can quietly go wrong.Comfortable owning the outcome in a small team, not just closing a ticket.Proficient in written and spoken English.Available for regular collaboration during CET business hours. Nice to have: Experience with data/reporting pipelines and toolsExperience with accounting, inventory, fiscalization, or other correctness-critical and regulated domains.Experience with AWS (SQS, RDS, EKS) and running services on Kubernetes.Experience with Hasura / GraphQL and event-driven data flows. Background in hospitality, POS, retail, fintech, or payments.Experience shipping AI-powered product features. What we offer: Remote work modelFlexible work timeModern development stackHigh autonomyNo unnecessary meetingsFast decision makingSmall team with real ownership and direct impact on product decisionsAdditional benefits to support your professional growth and well-being Hiring Process: Initial Conversation with HR โ€“ We'll begin with a brief conversation to get to know you better, discuss your experience, and see whether the role is a good fit for both you and our team.Product Interview โ€“ During the interview, you'll be given a practical product case. We'll discuss your approach, evaluate your reasoning, and dive deeper into how you prioritize, specify, and ship. Application process: We'd love to hear from you.
