About The Role We are currently seeking a highly skilled Software Developer with a focus on voice services to join our dynamic team on a 4+ year contract based in Suffolk. This role involves building, maintaining, and optimizing next-generation communication platforms that integrate traditional telecommunication protocols with modern cloud-based artificial intelligence technologies. The successful candidate will serve as a bridge between legacy telephony systems and cutting-edge cloud solutions, ensuring seamless voice communication experiences across multiple platforms. Your core responsibilities will include developing robust SIP services using Java, managing open-source media engines, and integrating advanced Speech AI technologies into multi-cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects that shape the future of voice communication technology. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in Java programming, with extensive experience in multi-threading and network application development. A deep understanding of Java and related frameworks such as JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlets is essential. Hands-on experience configuring and scripting with telephony engines like FreeSWITCH or Asterisk is required, along with a solid grasp of voice protocols including SIP, RTP/RTCP, and SDP. Familiarity with integrating cloud speech APIs such as AWS Transcribe/Polly, Azure Speech, and Google Cloud Speech-to-Text is highly desirable. Candidates should have experience deploying and managing applications across multi-cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP. Proficiency with VoIP troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark or sngrep is also necessary. Preferred qualifications include experience with Java telephony frameworks like Metaswitch Rhino SLEE or Oracle OCCAS, knowledge of containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, and understanding of WebRTC and telephony security standards like TLS and SRTP. Responsibilities Develop, test, and maintain high-performance SIP-based voice services utilizing Java frameworks such as JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlets to ensure reliable and scalable communication channels.Configure, manage, and optimize open-source media servers like FreeSWITCH or Asterisk to facilitate voice call routing and media handling.Integrate Speech AI components including Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) workflows into live voice streams to enhance user interaction and automation capabilities.Deploy voice applications across multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, ensuring high availability and performance monitoring.Utilize network analysis tools such as Wireshark or sngrep to diagnose and troubleshoot audio quality issues, call drops, and latency problems, maintaining optimal service quality.Collaborate closely with senior architects and DevOps teams to develop and deploy scalable conversational AI bots and voice solutions that meet client specifications.Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the robustness and security of voice communication systems.
