The Director of Ecommerce Engineering, Web & Mobile provides strategic and operational leadership for the teams supporting Ashleyfurniture.com and the company’s mobile application experience. Reporting to SVP of IT - Digital Commerce, this position owns engineering leadership for the Salesforce Commerce Cloud implementation, Storefront Next transition, web engineering teams, and mobile application support. This leader will develop a durable engineering operating model that creates clear accountability, predictable execution, reliable systems, and measurable results. The position will work closely with Product, Design, Delivery, Quality Assurance, Analytics, SEO/GEO, Retail Integrations, and business partners to ensure engineering investment supports customer experience, conversion, platform stability, and broader business objectives. Key Responsibilities Lead engineering execution for customer-facing ecommerce web and mobile experiences. Provide engineering leadership for the Salesforce Commerce Cloud with a headless implementation. Guide teams through platform migration, modernization, and changes to established operating models. Establish clear ownership, delivery metrics, reliability expectations, and maintainability standards. Build an operating structure supporting cart, checkout, site content, mobile applications, experimentation, analytics, SEO/GEO, and post-launch support. Partner with Product and Design to ensure teams address meaningful customer and business needs. Develop engineering managers, senior engineers, and technical leads. Identify capability gaps and recommend hiring, contractor support, ownership changes, or new permanent capabilities. Make practical build, buy, or partner recommendations. Communicate priorities, risks, tradeoffs, progress, and investment needs to senior leadership and business partners. Ensure ecommerce systems remain stable, measurable, maintainable, and supportable after implementation. Required Qualifications Experience leading engineering teams supporting customer-facing ecommerce web or mobile experiences. Demonstrated experience with platform migration, replatforming, modernization, or digital transformation. Strong understanding of modern commerce platforms. Ability to translate business objectives into engineering strategy, team structures, execution plans, and measurable outcomes. Experience developing engineering managers, senior engineers, and technical leaders. Strong planning, dependency management, delivery measurement, risk management, and continuous-improvement capabilities. Proven ability to partner effectively with technical teams, Product, Design, business stakeholders, and senior leadership. Customer-focused approach with experience improving digital experience, reliability, performance, conversion, or operational outcomes. Preferred Qualifications Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Storefront Reference Architecture, Composable Storefront, or Storefront Next experience. Mobile application engineering leadership experience. Experience with ecommerce cart, checkout, payments, search, product pages, personalization, experimentation, SEO, or analytics. Experience with performance monitoring, observability, QA automation, release management, and production support. Experience building or redesigning engineering operating models following an acquisition, reorganization, platform transition, or vendor-heavy delivery model
