Role Intro We're hiring a full-stack engineer to help shape how a profitable business operates and grows for an exciting startup with a complex operational business model. This is the role for a curious and interested problem solver who wants to work beyond just code and with modern AI coding practices. A super exciting role with very real and impactful problem solving, the first challenge is bringing a business-critical platform handling significant volume and revenue into daily use. Working alongside the Engineering Lead in TypeScript, Node.js and React, using latest agentic coding tools you'll help solve the operational problems that stand between the business today and the volume it needs to handle next. About Us The company is a profitable Australian start-up with a complex physical operation behind its software which makes for alot of very interesting problems to solve. You'll work directly with the founder and operational teams, understanding how work happens before deciding what to build. Ordering, inventory and dispatch are connected, so a decision in one part of the platform can change the workload for several teams. About You You're a problem solver first: curious enough to ask why a process works the way it does, and driven enough to follow a difficult problem through. You value what is in the code but also the parts of the problem outside of it, you work with business people and understand what needs to change. You're comfortable with imperfect information, take initiative and bring ideas rather than waiting for a detailed brief. You can argue for an approach, take direct feedback and change your mind without losing momentum. The team is backing AI-assisted engineering and wants someone keen to explore what coding agents can do, keep learning and help improve how the team builds software. You enjoy in office work, and appreciate in person collaboration. We are in office most-days of the week. Required Skills Strong full-stack TypeScript experience across Node.js and React, with depth in backend engineering.Curiosity and interest in Commerce. You like business, and problem solving. Experience working with stakeholders to understand problems, weigh trade-offs and deliver software against business outcomes, not just technical requirements.Sound architecture and systems thinking, including third-party API integrations and how connected workflows behave.Experience with SQL databases, ideally PostgreSQL, and the data models behind business applications.Experience owning software through to production, including testing, reliability, maintenance and support.Comfortable with agentic coding tools and keen to deepen your skills. You understand that directing coding agents puts more emphasis on sound architecture, clear constraints, review and testing, not less. Nice to Have Event-driven systems, including queues, retries, monitoring and recovery.Experience with logistics, fulfilment, inventory, ERP, e-commerce or marketplaces.Exposure to GCP, BigQuery, dbt or production LLM integrations. Benefits Salary: AUD $150k-$180k base for senior engineers, depending on capability. Strong mid-level engineers will also be considered at AUD $140k-$150k base.Brilliant freshly renovated office, with plenty of perks.
