Java Backend Engineer - Mandarin Speaking

Java Backend Engineer – Global Wave Group Location: Albany, Auckland (Office based) Working hours: 2 - 10:30 P.M. from Monday to Friday Reports to: Head of IT Role Purpose The Java Backend Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that power critical business applications. This role will work closely with product managers, QA engineers, and fellow developers to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performance solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring BootBuild scalable RESTful APIs and microservicesDesign and optimize database structures and queriesIntegrate with third-party systems and external APIsParticipate in system architecture and technical design discussionsMonitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issuesImprove application performance, reliability, and securityWrite clean, maintainable, and well-documented codePerform code reviews and share technical knowledge with team membersCollaborate within Agile development teams Essential Requirements 3+ years of professional Java development experienceStrong experience with Java 8+ and Spring BootSolid understanding of RESTful API design and developmentExperience with Microservices ArchitectureStrong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as MySQLExperience with ORM frameworks such as MyBatis, Hibernate, or JPAExperience with Git and CI/CD pipelinesStrong understanding of software design principles and best practicesExcellent problem-solving and debugging skillsStrong Chinese written and verbal communication skills Desirable Experience with AWS cloud platformsExperience with Docker and KubernetesExperience with messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQSFamiliarity with Redis or other caching technologiesExperience with monitoring and logging tools such as ELK, Grafana, or PrometheusUnderstanding of application security and authentication mechanismsExperience working in FinTech, Trading, CRM, Payment Systems, or Enterprise Systems is a plus
