About The Role
Peraton is seeking Entry-level DevOps Engineers in our Herndon, VA location to support a large software development classified program developing, operating, and maintaining mission critical enterprise capabilities.
Program includes development and support for existing mission systems in parallel with effort to develop and deliver modernized cloud native, microservice-based products.
Team applies Agile methodology, DevOps principles and behavior and test-driven development practices.
The target start date for this position is Summer 2027, after successfully obtaining the necessary security clearance, as dictated by the government program.
Responsibilities:
Development of CI/CD Build and Deployment PipelinesWrite/modify Jenkins-based groovy scriptsTroubleshoot pipeline issues across Jenkins and AWS Environments (Linux EC2, RDS, CloudFormation, ElasticSearch, etc...)Document key features for developer useHelp write and maintain scripts for process improvements (ex: stage/unstage builds, branch tag automation, automating variance corrections across networks)Work through steps to automate installations of COTS products into the architectureDebugging integration issuesHelp identify issues in the deployment (i.e.
potentially intermittent connectivity issues from an API Server to the Database)Help integrate with various tools for the DevOps process (SonarQube, Fortify, Jenkins, Robot Framework/Selenium, Artifactory, etc...)

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph prior to starting.Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related technical or scientific fields, such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, information technology, management information systems, or related STEM degree program and 0-2 years of experience.May/June 2027 grads are welcome to apply.Strong foundational knowledge working with Java OOP development.Willingness to learn and become an effective team member.Strong written and oral communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
An already active TS/SCI security clearance.3.0 and above GPA.Demonstrated experience with the systems engineering life cycle.Previous hands-on experience through coursework or internships.
Basic understanding of an object-oriented programming language, preferably Java or PythonBasic understanding of scripting languages, such as Bash and PythonExperience integrating Jenkins and Docker for automated CI/CD pipelinesActive CompTIA Security+ CE Certification

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000.
This represents the typical salary range for this position.
Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
