Closes: September 23, 2026 Job Description Avista is seeking a Software Developer to support and enhance its ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) platform and related Energy Resources systems, helping sustain reliable operations today while preparing for future technology modernization. Responsibilities Support, enhance, and maintain Avista’s Nucleus ETRM platform and related Energy Resources systems that support critical business operationsPartner with Energy Resources stakeholders to understand business processes, clarify requirements, and translate needs into reliable software solutionsAnalyze, design, develop, test, implement, and maintain application enhancements, integrations, reports, and system improvementsTroubleshoot and resolve complex application, data, integration, and production support issuesImprove the quality, maintainability, performance, and reliability of existing code and system componentsDevelop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, APIs, interfaces, and application logic that support Energy Resources processesContribute to technical design decisions and recommend practical approaches for developing, testing, implementing, and supporting solutionsParticipate in code reviews, mentor other developers, and help strengthen shared team knowledge of Energy Resources systemsSupport future modernization efforts by documenting current system behavior, identifying improvement opportunities, and helping evaluate long-term solution options Requirements BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experienceExtensive knowledge of architectural concepts, principles, standards, tools, techniques, and methodologiesStrong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologiesAbility to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and strong verbal and written communication skillsStrong relationship building skills to interact effectively with peers and business stakeholders Software Developer +3 years of related experience Hiring Range: $37.30 to $48.31 per hour Software Developer, Senior +5 years of related experience Hiring Range: $42.46 to $55.21 per hour Software Developer, Expert +7 years of related experience Hiring Range: $48.25 to $63.21 per hour Preferred Requirements Development experience in one or more of these areas: accounting, banking, finance, commodity trading/schedulingProficiency in core programming languages (C#, Python), strong PL/SQL and SQL skills and experience with relevant .NET frameworkExperience with internal/external integrations (GlobalScape, SFTP, API’s, etc.)Experience with AI development tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, etc.) Other Combinations Of Education And Experience May Be Considered. Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with additional day(s) determined by the manager.
