Description
Referment is working with a quantitative investment manager to hire a Senior Software Engineer for its post-trade and reporting team.
You will build the systems used by operations and fund accounting, combining backend engineering with a close understanding of the business processes the software supports.
There is no business analyst layer between you and the people using these systems.
You will discuss their requirements directly, work through the design and carry the solution into production.
That makes this a role for someone who wants to understand why a system is needed as well as how to build it.
The remit spans new projects and improvements to existing services.
Alongside delivery, you will help shape the platform's technical direction and make its distributed, event-driven systems easier to monitor, operate and maintain.
The Role
Work with operations, fund accounting and senior stakeholders to define problems and agree practical software solutions.Take changes through architecture, data modelling, implementation, automated testing and release.Build backend services that handle failure predictably, with monitoring and alerting that make production behaviour visible.Improve shared components and delivery tooling, including CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.Contribute to design reviews and technical decisions, balancing new approaches with the needs of an operating investment business.
What We're Looking For
At least five years of professional software development, including cloud-distributed, event-driven or microservices-based systems.Strong backend engineering and computer science fundamentals.
C#/.NET is preferred, with relevant experience in comparable technologies also valuable.A STEM degree and a disciplined approach to testing, documentation, version control and maintainable design.Confidence gathering requirements and explaining technical choices directly to business users.Curiosity about development tools, including AI-assisted engineering, alongside sound judgement about where to use them.
