Join a small engineering team as an Intermediate to Senior Full Stack Engineer and help consolidate multiple generations of a software platform. You will build features with modern frontend and backend technologies, design ETL pipelines, optimize production SQL and data models, reverse-engineer legacy systems, migrate data, and keep older applications stable during the transition.
Highlights
Hands-on full-stack role combining new feature development, data engineering, legacy modernization, production troubleshooting, and technical guidance for a small team.
Description
We are hiring a full stack developer with strong data instincts to help us consolidate three generations of our platform into one.
You will build new features on our current stack, move existing registries onto it, and help guide a small team doing the same.
What you’ll do
Build features across our current platform: Angular and TypeScript on the front end, Node.js Lambda services on the back end, MySQL and DynamoDB for data.Design and maintain ETL pipelines in C#, Node.js or Python that extract and transform data into operational and reporting views.Write and tune SQL against production data volumes, and model schemas that hold up as requirements change.Read and reverse-engineer our two older platform versions (Angular/Java/MySQL and PHP/Laravel) to understand exactly how their data and behaviour work, then migrate that data onto the current platform and prove it came across correctly.Keep those older systems stable while they are still in use — maintenance and production fixes, not new feature work.
They are being retired.Review other developers’ code, mentor junior and intermediate team members, and help break large pieces of work into deliverable units.Document schemas, data mappings and decisions so knowledge does not sit with one person.
Technologies you’ll work with
Current platform (where you’ll build)
Front end: Angular, TypeScript, HTML/CSSBack end: Node.js, TypeScript, AWS Lambda, REST APIsData: MySQL, DynamoDBData pipelines
C#, Node.js, PythonMySQL operational and reporting views, SQLCloud and tooling
AWS: Lambda, RDS, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatchGit, CI/CD, Jira, ConfluenceOlder platform versions (where you’ll read and maintain)
Healthie V1: Angular, Java, MySQLHealthie Legacy: PHP, Laravel, LAMP stack
What you’ll bring
4+ years of professional software development experience.Strong TypeScript and Node.js, or comparable depth in another modern server-side language plus a track record of picking up new ones quickly.Experience with Angular, React or Vue.Strong SQL and relational data modelling — you can design a schema and explain why it is shaped the way it is.Hands-on ETL or data pipeline experience: incremental loads, error handling, reconciliation, and handling source systems that change without warning. The ability to read code you did not write, in languages you do not use every day, and trace how an undocumented system actually behaves.
This matters more to us than any single framework on your resume.Cloud experience, ideally AWS (Lambda, RDS, IAM, VPC).Experience guiding other developers through code review, mentoring or leading a workstream.Clear communication with non-engineers — clinical and delivery colleagues need to follow what you are telling them.
Nice to have
Experience migrating customers off a legacy platform and decommissioning it.Enough Java or PHP/Laravel to be self-sufficient reading those codebases.C# or Python for data pipeline work.DynamoDB or other NoSQL databases.Serverless architecture at scale.Reporting or analytics data models, and BI tooling downstream of them.CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability tooling.Healthcare or life sciences data: clinical registries, clinical trials, EDC systems, HL7, FHIR.Regulated environments — HIPAA, GDPR, PIPEDA, 21 CFR Part 11.
You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed.
If you are strong on a modern stack, serious about data, and comfortable working in code you did not write, we would like to hear from you.
