We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mid-Level Backend Software Engineer to join our Digital Product and Technology team in Bristol. As part of a collaborative product team, you'll help design, build and evolve the systems that power our digital services. Working with.NET Core, C#, SQL, Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes, you'll deliver scalable, high-quality solutions that create real value for our customers while helping shape the future of RAC's technology landscape. You'll play an important role in delivering new projects, enhancing existing products and continually improving our codebases. From contributing to technical design decisions and solving complex engineering challenges to managing technical debt and promoting best practice, you'll have the opportunity to influence how we build software and deliver technology across the business. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership, contributing to technical design decisions and exploring new technologies. You’ll have the freedom to challenge existing approaches, recommend practical improvements and explore new ways to make our services even better. This is a hybrid role, working 2 days a week from our Bradley Stoke office and 3 days a week from home offering flexibility while being part of a dynamic and supportive team. What You’ll Do Day to day, you’ll take ownership of designing and delivering innovative technical solutions, creating practical recommendations, and sharing them with both your immediate team and the wider technology function. As well as; Develop high quality software and architecture Perform troubleshooting of operational and integration issues Attention to detail when writing code and obsessing over delivering high quality solutions to customers Keep up to date on emerging technologies ensuring any new tools adopted in the RAC are fit for purpose and commercially appropriateDevelop solutions using .NET Core, C#, SQL alongside proficiency with the Azure Cloud Environment and Kubernetes Able to interface with the business and make sense of complicated or incomplete requests. Provide accurate estimates for business initiatives at concept as well as challenging existing estimates to ensure we’re routinely delivering value Able to own technical debt across the technology stack and make practical assessments about the relevant priorities. What You’ll Need Ability to work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment. Proficient in industry-standard engineering practices and patterns, including event-driven design, service-to-service communication and building reusable services. Good understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures. Thorough understanding of best practice in the software engineering lifecycle. Understanding of and a passion for automation Must have good stakeholder management, communication, organisation, and time management skills. An allergy to duplication and proactively seeks conversations to delete/consolidate duplicate technology Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines. Why RAC?
