Senior React Engineer Location: Manchester Working model: Hybrid (3 days a week) Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum The Opportunity An established global technology and digital transformation company is looking for a Senior React Engineer to join its growing engineering team in Manchester. You’ll help design, build and maintain high-quality mobile applications used by major organisations in the UK and internationally. This is an opportunity to work on meaningful, technically challenging projects where you can influence engineering decisions, introduce best practices and create solutions that deliver a genuine impact. The role is particularly suited to an experienced front-end engineer with strong React and TypeScript skills who has used Capacitor to deliver production-ready applications across both Android and iOS. What You’ll Be Doing Designing, developing and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications using React and Capacitor.Creating reusable, accessible and well-tested front-end components.Integrating native device capabilities, platform APIs and third-party plugins.Connecting applications to RESTful APIs and backend services.Working closely with UX designers, backend engineers, product owners and other technical stakeholders.Translating product and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.Optimising applications for performance, reliability and usability across Android and iOS.Applying mobile security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.Supporting automated build, test and release processes.Contributing to code reviews, technical discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.Diagnosing production issues and helping to improve application stability.Sharing knowledge and supporting the development of other engineers within the team. What We’re Looking For Essential Experience Strong commercial experience building hybrid mobile applications with Capacitor.Advanced experience with React and TypeScript.Excellent knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3.A strong understanding of modern front-end architecture, component-based development and state management.Experience integrating and consuming RESTful APIs.Hands-on experience deploying applications to both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.Familiarity with native Android and iOS build processes, including configuration, signing and release management.Experience writing clean, maintainable and testable code.Good understanding of application performance, responsive design and accessibility.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Desirable Experience Experience with Ionic Framework.Knowledge of mobile application security and secure coding practices.Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.Familiarity with automated front-end and mobile testing.Exposure to native iOS or Android development.Experience working within Agile delivery teams or large-scale enterprise environments.Familiarity with app analytics, monitoring and crash-reporting tools.
