We are looking for an experienced Java Kafka Developer to join our development team in Calgary, AB.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Core Java and Apache Kafka, with a solid understanding of backend application development, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.
The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting scalable Java-based applications and Kafka streaming solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Core Java.Develop and integrate Apache Kafka producers and consumers for real-time event streaming.Build reliable, high-performance applications using object-oriented design and Java best practices.Work with Kafka topics, partitions, consumer groups, offsets, and message processing.Troubleshoot application and Kafka-related issues and optimize system performance.Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, testing, and production support.Collaborate with architects, developers, QA teams, business analysts, and other stakeholders.Develop clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code.Support application integration and deployment across different environments.Required Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Java / Core Java.Excellent understanding of OOP, Collections, Exception Handling, Multithreading, and Concurrency.Experience with Java 8+ features including Streams and Lambda expressions.Strong experience with Apache Kafka.Hands-on knowledge of Kafka Producers, Consumers, Topics, Partitions, Consumer Groups, and Offset Management.Understanding of Kafka event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing.Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.Experience with REST APIs and backend application development.Experience with SQL and relational databases.Familiarity with Git, Maven/Gradle, and Agile development practices.Good to Have
