What You'll Do
Build the internal platform
Task routing, contributor workflows, review queues, quality dashboards, and export pipelines.
Every hour of manual coordination you remove is an hour of margin and a program that scales.
Make quality measurable
Instrument agreement metrics, throughput, and reviewer performance so Delivery and Quality are working from data rather than intuition.
If a cohort is drifting, we should know on a Tuesday, not after we export.
Own the integration surface
Clients have their own annotation environments, their own security requirements, and their own data handling constraints.
You will build against them and make sure our contributors can work inside a client's environment without losing visibility.
Decide what we build and what we buy
There are decent annotation platforms on the market.
There is no platform that does what GPL specifically needs.
Knowing which is which, and saying so, is a large part of the job.
Own security and access control
Expert identity, client confidentiality, and data handling are not optional in this business.

What We're Looking For
You are a pragmatic full stack engineer who has built internal tools that real operators depended on daily.
You have seen your own software used badly and fixed the design rather than blaming the user.
You are comfortable being the only and founding engineer.
You will make architecture decisions alone, ship without a code review for a while, and live with the consequences.
You have worked close to operations.
You can sit with a program manager, watch them do a task fifteen times, and come back with the thing that removes twelve of them.
Experience with annotation tooling, data pipelines, workflow systems, or marketplace platforms is a strong advantage.
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Location: New York, NY — Hybrid
Compensation: $175,000–$225,000 base + $25,000 performance bonus + equity participation.
