Own the delivery engine behind multiple software and infrastructure initiatives. You will design and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines, manage GitOps deployments to Kubernetes, establish container standards, improve infrastructure tooling, and mentor engineers while emphasizing secure, reproducible, and fast delivery.
Highlights
Hands-on senior ownership role covering delivery infrastructure, CI/CD, Kubernetes, infrastructure code, and developer tooling, with opportunities to set engineering standards and mentor other DevOps engineers.
Description
About the role
We run several infrastructure and product initiatives in parallel, and we need a senior engineer to own how software gets built, shipped and run across them: the CI/CD pipelines, the container platform, the infrastructure code and the tooling that lets development teams deliver safely and quickly.
This is a hands-on role with ownership.
You will set the standards for delivery tooling, drive them through with the teams, and mentor the DevOps engineers around you.
You will work closely with our Site Reliability Engineer, who owns availability targets and platform architecture; you own the delivery engine that runs on top of it.
What you will do
CI/CD.
Design, build and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines for building and testing microservices, and GitOps-based deployments to Kubernetes; keep them fast, reproducible and secure.
Container platform.
Deploy and operate containerized applications on Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, AKS or on-premise); define standards for images, manifests and resource configuration.
Infrastructure as Code.
Provision, scale and maintain cloud infrastructure with Terraform or AWS CDK; build reusable modules and keep environments consistent and auditable.
Developer enablement.
Support development teams with containerization, environment setup, architecture patterns and continuous delivery practices; remove friction from the path to production.
Monitoring and logging.
Set up and maintain monitoring, logging and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog or similar) for services and pipelines, in line with the reliability standards the SRE defines.
Security in the pipeline.
Manage secrets, access and image security across CI/CD and Kubernetes.
Mentoring.
Coach DevOps engineers, review their work and raise the team's baseline.
Must-have
GitLab CI/CD.
Strong expertise writing .gitlab-ci.yml, optimizing runners, managing artifacts and caching, and handling secrets in pipelines.
GitOps.
Hands-on experience running Kubernetes deployments with ArgoCD or Flux.
Kubernetes.
Hands-on experience with core objects (Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, HPA) and with day-to-day troubleshooting of workloads.
Containers.
Proficiency with Docker: multi-stage optimized Dockerfiles, image lifecycle and registry management, container security basics.
Infrastructure as Code.
Proven experience with Terraform or AWS CDK for automated infrastructure provisioning.
Cloud.
Solid AWS background.
Scripting and automation.
Proficiency in Python or Bash; comfortable building internal tooling.
Fundamentals.
Solid Linux and networking knowledge (DNS, TLS, load balancing).
Ownership and mentoring.
Several years in DevOps or platform roles, with experience taking charge of delivery tooling and mentoring less experienced engineers.
Nice-to-have
Bitbucket
Progressive delivery (canary / blue-green)
Ansible or other configuration-management tooling
A second cloud, ideally GCP
Service mesh (Istio, Linkerd or Cilium)
Cost awareness and FinOps practices
