About The Role CapMetro is seeking a motivated and technically proficient Web Developer to join our Digital Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise web applications, public-facing websites, and custom business solutions. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with modern web technologies, content management systems, databases, and server environments. Your work will directly impact the quality and functionality of CapMetro’s digital platforms, ensuring seamless user experiences and secure, high-performance solutions. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with analysts, designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into innovative web solutions. You will also be expected to independently manage projects, adhere to development standards, participate in code reviews, and uphold high-quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle. Qualifications The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, coupled with at least four years of professional web application development experience. Proven expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, and SQL is essential. Experience developing custom WordPress themes, plugins, and integrations within a LAMP stack environment is highly desirable. Familiarity with REST APIs, database management with MySQL/MariaDB, and version control systems such as Git is required. Additional knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Linux server administration, and troubleshooting performance or security issues will be beneficial. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to acquire a Virginia Driver’s License within 60 days of employment. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities are critical for success in this role. Responsibilities The Web Developer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining web applications and websites. This includes creating custom functionalities using Angular, PHP, JavaScript, and related technologies. The role involves building and troubleshooting integrations between web applications, databases, APIs, and third-party services. You will participate in application architecture discussions and technical solution design to ensure scalable and secure solutions. Supporting source control workflows with Git, contributing to code reviews, and supporting CI/CD deployment pipelines are integral parts of the job. You will develop and maintain database-driven applications utilizing MySQL or MariaDB, assist with Linux-based web hosting environment administration, and support web server management using tools like cPanel, WHM, and Apache. Regular performance monitoring and optimization of websites and applications are expected. Quality assurance testing, cross-browser compatibility validation, and defect resolution will be part of your routine. You will manage work items using project management tools like Jira, providing accurate effort estimates and status updates. The ability to independently prioritize tasks and follow established development standards is essential to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality solutions.
