Full-Stack Engineer

Job Summary PawtholoGene Lab is pioneering AI-powered precision health by merging nutrigenetics, medical history, and dynamic personal health data. We are seeking an experienced, independent Full-Stack Engineer to collaborate with our core team. In this role, you will architect, build, and deploy our end-to-end e-commerce platform from the ground up, translating business requirements into a functional, production-ready web application. This platform will serve as the primary storefront and secure user portal for delivering our personalized supplement recommendations. We are looking for a self-starter who can confidently deliver a complete e-commerce experience, including user account systems, secure shopping carts, inventory management, and smooth checkout pipelines. This is an excellent project-based opportunity to execute a full-cycle web build—spanning from UI/UX design to database management and cloud deployment—for a fast-paced, science-driven startup. Key Responsibilities ● UI/UX Design: Translate product vision into wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar design tools. ● Frontend Development: Build a responsive, fast-loading, and SEO-optimized e-commerce storefront with complex client-side state management (shopping carts, persistent sessions, filters). ● Backend Architecture: Develop secure, scalable RESTful or GraphQL APIs to handle business logic, including user authentication (RBAC, JWT), order processing, and inventory control. ● Database Management: Architect and optimize a hybrid database strategy using Relational (SQL) databases for transactional data (orders, billing) and Non-Relational (NoSQL) databases for flexible data models (product catalogs, user sessions). ● Payment & Third-Party Integration: Seamlessly integrate secure payment gateways, local Hong Kong methods, and cross-border payment options (e.g., FPS, PayMe, Alipay HK, WeChat Pay HK, Alipay & WeChat Pay (Mainland China), UnionPay, Credit Cards) and automated email notification services (e.g., SendGrid, AWS SES). ● Cloud Deployment & DevOps: Set up cloud infrastructure on AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring high availability, continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD), and proper SSL/TLS configurations. Requirements ● Experience: 5+ years of professional experience as a Full-Stack Developer, with a proven portfolio of launching operational e-commerce or SaaS platforms. ● Design Tools: Proficiency in modern UI/UX design software (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Penpot) with a strong understanding of user-centered design, typography, and responsive layouts. ● Frontend Stack: Mastery of modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React.js, Next.js, or Vue.js) and state management libraries. ● Backend Stack: Deep expertise in backend ecosystems such as Node.js (Express/NestJS), or Python (Django/FastAPI). ● Databases: Hands-on proficiency with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis). ● Cloud & DevOps: Proven experience deploying applications using AWS (EC2, S3, RDS) or GCP (App Engine, Compute Engine), alongside containerization tools like Docker. ● Security Mindset: Practical knowledge of web security best practices (OWASP Top 10, data encryption, CORS, secure cookie handling). ● Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional time management, and the ability to work completely independently without daily supervision. Location: Hong Kong Science Park (HKSTP) Working hours: 42 hours per week Salary: HK$20,000–30,000 per month
