About the role The Client is a fast-growing technology company operating at the heart of the Dutch real estate market. Its technology and platform support a significant share of residential property listings across the Netherlands, with continued expansion into Germany and Belgium. As the business continues to grow and new technology projects are being added, the development team is expanding its capacity. We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer to join the team in Pristina and take ownership of important development projects. The Role As a Backend Developer, you will work closely with the existing development team in the Netherlands and take ownership of well-defined projects from development through to delivery and handover. We are looking for someone who can work independently, solve technical problems, make sound technical decisions, and move projects forward without requiring constant supervision. This will be an important role within the growing Pristina team, with the potential to become a technical point of reference for future developers joining the local team. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of backend development projects from planning through implementation, testing, delivery, and handover.Design and develop reliable, maintainable, and scalable backend solutions.Make independent technical decisions and recommend appropriate solutions to technical challenges.Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues with limited guidance.Work effectively within an existing codebase and contribute to improving code quality and maintainability.Develop and maintain APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.Collaborate closely with the development team in the Netherlands.Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices.Document technical solutions and ensure effective handover of completed projects.Share knowledge and support the development of the future Pristina engineering team. What We’re Looking For Several years of professional experience in backend software development.Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.Ability to understand an existing codebase and identify practical technical solutions.Confidence in making technical decisions without requiring constant supervision.Experience developing APIs and working with system integrations.Good understanding of software development principles, clean code, and maintainable architecture.Experience working collaboratively within a development team.Strong communication skills and a proactive approach.Ability and willingness to learn an existing technology stack and development standards. Technical Experience Experience with the following is highly desirable: PHPLaravelREST APIs and third-party integrationsSQL and relational databasesGit and modern development workflowsAutomated testing and debuggingModern web application architecture PHP and Laravel experience is a strong advantage, but it is not the only factor we consider. We are particularly interested in developers who demonstrate strong ownership, problem-solving ability, and the confidence to work independently within an existing codebase. Full-stack development experience, including frontend technologies, is considered a plus.
