Follow us on LinkedIn for new features and the occasional roast 🔥 Meet the Team 👥 Here at Cleo, we have ~200 Engineers organised into Pillars ✨ Our stack spans a Ruby on Rails monolith, a single React Native (TypeScript) app frontend, Python for machine learning services, and PostgreSQL, all hosted on AWS and shipped through Kubernetes - backend goes out multiple times a week, app releases to Google and Apple at least weekly. To thrive here, our engineers proactively use our Engineering Principles to guide daily decisions, take ownership of problems beyond their own squad to drive broader impact, and actively drive their own learning, development and growth. About The Role ✍️ We're hiring Backend Engineers to join one of our cross-functional product squads - working closely with other engineers, designers, analysts, and other disciplines to build features that improve our users' financial health. Key responsibilities for this role include: Work on our Ruby on Rails monolith, building data models, APIs, and business logic servicesCollaborate with peers across your squad and pillar, providing technical insight into upcoming work and helping pull the team together to ship itDeliver your work using agile methodologies and tools like tests, observability, A/B tests, and feature flagsMentor colleagues to help them grow as engineers, and actively support their developmentContribute to cross-cutting concerns that raise the bar across engineeringShape your squad's work beyond the technical - take part in product ideation, user research, design reviews, and retrospectives What We're Looking For 🕵️ Solid experience with Ruby on Rails, building data models, APIs, and business logic services in a production monolithComfortable delivering with agile methodologies and practices like automated testing, observability, A/B testing, and feature flagsA collaborative approach — you work well with product, design, and analytics partners, and enjoy shaping work beyond just the technical bitsExperience mentoring colleagues and supporting their growth as engineersAlignment with our company values and engineering principles What we offer We offer benefits package built to support you in and out of work.
