Description

Company Description Sirap Ltd, founded in 1981, is a leading supplier and partner of specialized ICT equipment in San Gwann. As local partners and distributors for major brands, we offer a range of products and services, including technical and customer support, disaster recovery, business continuity and cloud-based software management. With our reputation for providing customized customer service solutions, we are trusted by many high-profile clients who outsource their ICT function to us. Our prompt, friendly and professional after sales support has been the hallmark of our success. Role Description As a Technical Solutions Engineer at Sirap Ltd, you'll spend most of your time with your hands on the kit — deploying, configuring and supporting the infrastructure our clients depend on. The rest of the time you'll be in front of those clients, working out what they actually need, designing the solution, and seeing it through to quote and delivery. Roughly 70% engineering, 30% pre-sales. It's a role for someone who wants to stay technical but doesn't want to sit behind a ticket queue all day. Whilst qualifications and industry certifications are considered an asset, at Sirap we hire based on character and culture fit. IT is a rapidly evolving world and we focus on providing training and continuous learning for the whole team. We are looking for both experienced individuals and people looking to learn and grow in this field. What you'll actually be doing • Deploying, administering and troubleshooting Windows Server, Active Directory and on-premise infrastructure • Building and managing cloud environments — Azure and Microsoft 365 among others • Designing, implementing and monitoring data backup, storage and business continuity solutions using DataCore and Synology • Handling information security and backup for our clients using Acronis — from initial setup through to testing that a restore actually restores • Writing scripts to make the repetitive things go away — PowerShell, Python or Bash, whichever fits the job • Building small internal tools, and configuring and extending vendor software so it fits how our clients actually work • Translating a client's requirements into a solution design, then preparing the quote and seeing the order through to fulfilment You'll fit in if you • would rather automate a task than do it twice • can take a messy customer requirement and turn it into a cost-effective solution — and then explain that solution to someone non-technical without making them feel stupid • have a pleasant personality and a strong customer-centric approach • are happy when all things are aligned and organised • are innovative and capable of working on your own initiative • integrate well into a team of highly enthusiastic individuals • enjoy learning and improving your skills — Sirap provides both internal and external training opportunities • get excited when AMD or Intel release a new CPU, and understand computer architecture and the Microsoft stack • know how to "turn it off and on again", and when that fails, know how to roll up your sleeves and diagnose what’s actually wrong • actually understand the terms SSD, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, RAID and LOL • can read someone else's script without immediately wanting to rewrite it from scratch • enjoy coffee (not tea) It would be absolutely amazing (but not mandatory) if you have • BTEC Higher National, Microsoft certifications, A+ Technician Diploma, or equivalent vendor and cloud certifications • 1–2 years of relevant experience in a systems administration, infrastructure or technical support role • Hands-on experience with Acronis, DataCore, Synology or similar backup and storage platforms • Exposure to AI-assisted automation, solution design or coding • Basic knowledge of power quality systems and UPSs • An interest in Industrial Automation, Labeling and Lasers (even the Star Wars kind) What we offer • Genuine variety — no two weeks look the same • Internal and external training, and the certifications to go with it • A small, enthusiastic team where your work is visible and room to grow in it • A 40+ year old company with high-profile clients who trust us with their entire ICT function
