Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) Development of a Mid-Bandgap Perovskite Cell for Triple-Junction Solar Cells
Reference No.: SE 2026/12
Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) conducts cutting-edge research on energy materials and operates one of Europe's most advanced research infrastructures, the BESSY II synchrotron.
The Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells Department develops metal halide perovskite solar cells and has achieved several world-record efficiencies in recent years for perovskite/silicon (32.5%) and perovskite/CIGS (24.2%) tandem solar cells.
Building on these achievements, we are developing perovskite-based triple-junction solar cells to further increase power conversion efficiency.
Initial results demonstrating an efficiency of 27% were recently published in Joule (DOI:10.1016/j.joule.2026.102575).
This position focuses on investigating the film formation and crystallization of co-evaporated mid-bandgap perovskites and integrating them into high-efficiency triple-junction solar cells.
To strengthen our international and interdisciplinary team, we are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with experience in perovskite solar cells.
Your TasksCo-Evaporation of perovskites with a bandgap of 1.52 eV to 1.45 eVCompositional engineering, film analysis and device characterization using ex-situ and in-situ structural and spectroscopic characterization methodsManufacturing of perovskite single-junction and perovskite/perovskite/silicon triple-junction solar cellsCoordinating development work and experiments in cooperation within HZB and other institutes as well as industrial partnersPublication of the scientific results at international conferences and peer-reviewed journals as well as project proposal writing and acquisition of new third-party funded projects
