Full Stack Software Engineer – Java & React Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid)Rate: €105 per hour (full-time)Contract: Until end of December 2026 (likely extensions) We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to join a high-performing product engineering team working on large-scale digital products and customer-facing technology. This is a genuinely hands-on role where you'll work across both backend and frontend development, building high-quality software using Java and React. You'll be joining a collaborative engineering environment where contractors are treated as integral members of the team, working alongside permanent colleagues across product development, technical design and delivery. What you'll be doing Building and maintaining scalable software applications using Java and React.Developing clean, reusable and maintainable code.Working across frontend and backend services as part of a full-stack engineering team.Designing and implementing technical solutions based on business requirements.Contributing to system design and architectural decisions.Developing automated tests and maintaining high standards of code quality.Taking ownership of services through deployment and production.Monitoring application performance and helping resolve live incidents.Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and engineering practices.Working closely with Product and Engineering colleagues to deliver customer-focused solutions.What we're looking for 6–7+ years' experience in software engineering.Strong, recent Java development experience.Strong hands-on React experience – ideally 2–3 years within the last five years.Genuine full-stack experience rather than predominantly backend development.Strong understanding of software development, testing and system design.Experience building and supporting production applications.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Experience with TypeScript and API tooling such as Postman would be advantageous.The opportunity You'll be working on products used at significant scale, with the opportunity to contribute to new product development, system design and continuous technical improvement.
