Description
Your role
SMARTLINK is Atlas Copco's connectivity and monitoring platform for compressed air installations: more than 300,000 connected assets, over 100,000 users worldwide, billions of data points a day.
For a large share of those users the mobile app is the connected ecosystem - commissioning equipment, troubleshooting a gateway that will not come online, acting on an alert - so it decides how our mobile experience is perceived, often before anyone opens the portal.
A growing part of the roadmap is device onboarding, and that makes this more than a business app: users in the field discover sensors and gateways, connect them over Bluetooth Low Energy, configure WiFi, provision equipment and troubleshoot when communication fails.
Your work sits where mobile software, cloud services and physical hardware meet - flows that have to hold up when connectivity is poor, the hardware is not in a known state, and the person holding the phone is a technician on a noisy plant floor rather than a power user at a desk.
You join a product team (Product Owner, UX/UI designer, Flutter and .NET developers, test engineers) that owns the whole mobile experience from discovery to production.
You work across the whole product lifecycle rather than implementing requirements handed to you.
You help understand the problem, validate the solution, build production software, and then look at whether it actually changed anything for the user.
You move between product discussions, Flutter development, backend services, APIs design and implementation, analytics and troubleshooting.
One day is user journeys with the Product Owner and designer; the next is a Flutter feature, an ASP.NET Core endpoint, or working out from Mixpanel why a commissioning flow is being abandoned at step three.
You will be comfortable in a codebase with history and constraints, and you care as much about the problem as the solution - what frustrates the user in the field is as interesting to you as the architecture behind it.
In This Role, You Will
Build new capabilities for SMARTLINK Mobile in Flutter and Dart, and extend ASP.NET Core services and APIs behind them - owning a capability end to end rather than one side of it.Take part in discovery and refinement: understand the persona and the journey, apply jobs-to-be-done thinking, and challenge a requirement before it is built rather than after.Work with the Product Owner and designer from the first sketch, and say so when a flow does not hold once real devices and real field conditions are involved.Build the commissioning and onboarding experiences for sensors, gateways and connected equipment.Engineer for the field: intermittent connectivity, offline behaviour, slow networks, and failure states that tell the user what to do next instead of what went wrong.Close the loop with data: adoption and usage in Mixpanel, system behaviour in New Relic, and commissioning success and failure rates treated as a first-class product metric.Keep quality where it belongs: tests alongside the product code, code review, architecture discussions, and your share of production troubleshooting.Leverage AI in your daily work and help the team keep raising the bar on how we use it.
To succeed, you will need
At Atlas Copco Group, our slogan for various positions is "hire for attitude & train for skill".
We train you for these positions through on-the-job-training.
Do you only partly meet the profile as outlined below? No problem! We still encourage you to apply and take this opportunity.
Who knows, on-the-job-training may be available for you for this position.
You have built and shipped a mobile or fullstack product that other people depend on - not a greenfield demo, but something with history, users and constraints.
You can tell the difference between a flow that is finished and one that merely works, and you are as comfortable in a product conversation as in a stack trace.
We need you to hit the ground running: come in as a solid medior and grow into owning a significant part of the mobile product, or arrive senior and set the patterns the team adopts.
Your Profile Includes
Several years of hands-on software development, at a level where you own a feature end to end: design, implementation, data, and the edge cases in between.Strong C# and .NET, including REST APIs and backend services you have designed rather than only consumed.Production Flutter and Dart experience - an app that real users depend on, not a demo.Modern engineering as a habit: testing next to the product code, code review, CI/CD, and a build setup you understand.Strong analytical and root cause skills.
You keep digging until you know why, not just that it failed.Comfortable in a multidisciplinary agile team, with the confidence to say in refinement that something should not be built the way it is specified.Fluency with AI tooling plus the judgement to verify what it produces.
Considered a Plus
Genuine interest in UX and product discovery - you want to understand how the user works, not just what to build.Bluetooth Low Energy, WiFi provisioning or device onboarding development.Connected devices, sensors and gateways, or industrial IoT more broadly.Offline-first mobile applications and mobile performance work.Analytics and observability in practice: Mixpanel, New Relic, feature flags, A/B testing.Azure, event-driven architectures and microservices.Firmware update workflows.
