About O2DCA
O2 Digital Creative Agency has been thriving as a Software and Marketing Agency in Pittsburgh since 2010.
We create a variety of web-based solutions for our clients, from simple brochure sites, to e-commerce sites, mobile apps, and custom business management software platforms.

Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior WordPress Developer & Technical Project Manager to combine hands-on WordPress and WooCommerce engineering with client-facing ownership of development projects and ongoing website relationships.
Reporting to the Managing Developer, the successful candidate will spend approximately 60% of their time on development and 40% on client communication, project planning, coordination, and delivery management.
You will lead development-focused client work from discovery and requirements through implementation, QA, launch, and ongoing support.
You will serve as the primary contact for assigned website and software projects, translate business needs into clear technical plans, keep clients and internal contributors aligned, and raise scope, budget, timeline, or relationship risks before they become delivery problems.
The successful candidate will be a senior technical leader and trusted project owner, guiding other developers through practical mentorship and review while remaining hands-on in delivery.
The right candidate can move comfortably between a client conversation, a project plan, an unfamiliar codebase, and a production issue without losing sight of quality, scope, or client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Custom WordPress Development: Build and maintain custom themes, blocks, plugins, admin tools, content models, and reusable functionality using WordPress APIs and established coding standards.WooCommerce Engineering: Implement and troubleshoot product, cart, checkout, payment, shipping, tax, subscription, order, and customer-account workflows.Technical Architecture & Integrations: Translate approved designs and business requirements into maintainable architecture, implementation plans, and integrations with CRMs, inventory systems, payment services, marketing platforms, forms, and other third-party APIs.Security, Performance & Reliability: Apply secure development practices and investigate slow queries, caching behavior, asset loading, plugin conflicts, scheduled tasks, failed requests, and production errors across environments.Development-Project Ownership: Manage assigned website and software projects from discovery through launch and ongoing support, with clear ownership of requirements, dependencies, milestones, and next actions.Client Communication: Lead development-focused client meetings, provide concise status and timeline updates, explain technical decisions in plain language, document decisions, and follow up proactively.Discovery & Requirements: Ask effective questions, clarify business goals, identify assumptions and dependencies, and convert client requests into structured, actionable development work.Planning & Coordination: Prepare estimates and schedules, break work into useful tasks, maintain accurate project records, coordinate designers and developers, and remove or escalate delivery blockers.Scope & Risk Management: Identify out-of-scope requests and risks involving budget, timeline, quality, or client expectations.
Document the impact and escalate change orders or material decisions to the Managing Developer and executive leadership when appropriate.QA, Launch & Verification: Define acceptance criteria, coordinate internal and client review, confirm issues are resolved, support controlled releases, and verify production behavior after launch.Legacy-Site Improvement: Enter older or unfamiliar codebases safely, diagnose root causes, make proportionate incremental changes, and avoid unnecessary rewrites or dependencies.Technical Leadership: Provide practical guidance and code review to other developers, establish reusable patterns, and help improve development and QA standards without serving as their formal people manager.Operational Visibility: Keep project-management records current enough that clients, contributors, and leadership can understand scope, owners, dependencies, status, and the next required action.

90-120 Day Impact Expectations
Client & Project Ownership: Develop working knowledge of assigned clients, active projects, O2DCA services, and internal workflows, then independently lead routine development communication and follow-through.Delivery Visibility: Keep assigned work accurately mapped to scope, owners, dependencies, milestones, risks, and next actions in the project-management platform.Technical Execution: Deliver and support maintainable WordPress and WooCommerce work while demonstrating sound judgment in unfamiliar codebases and production environments.Communication & Scope Control: Reduce stalled work through proactive follow-ups, identify scope or expectation problems early, and bring the Managing Developer clear options when escalation is needed.
