Payment Gateway Infrastructure Engineer

A reputable financial technology company is seeking a high-caliber Infrastructure Engineer to lay the foundation for the uptime, scalability and security of its payment gateway. As the first infrastructure hire, you'll own this today and help build the team around it as the company grows. Key Responsibilities Own uptime and performance of the payment gateway infrastructureDesign for failover and disaster recoveryBuild and maintain infrastructure documentation and runbooksTune infrastructure to handle high-concurrency transaction volume without degradationLoad-test and capacity-plan ahead of anticipated volume growthIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks proactivelyMaintain infrastructure alignment with PCI-DSS Level 1 requirementsAlign infrastructure controls with national cybersecurity standardsSupport compliance audits with accurate infrastructure evidenceMonitor system health and respond to incidents against defined SLAsRun post-incident reviews and implement fixes to prevent recurrenceHelp establish on-call processes as the infrastructure team grows Role Requirements Experience & Background Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field5–8 years in infrastructure, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering rolesAt least two years supporting PCI-DSS Level 1 environments is requiredDirect experience in payments or fintech infrastructureComfort being the first or founding member of an infrastructure function Functional & Technical Skills Strong command of cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure or GCPExperience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)Solid understanding of load balancing, monitoring and incident response processesAbility to translate compliance requirements into infrastructure controls Expert in Tools Kubernetes and Terraform for infrastructure managementMonitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and GrafanaJira and Confluence for delivery and documentation Soft Skills & Culture Very good English and ArabicStay calm and organized when handling incidents under pressureMaintain clear and accurate documentation, especially for compliance purposes Nice to Have PCI-DSS QSA exposureDirect national cybersecurity compliance project experienceAWS Solutions Architect or CKA certificationPrior experience building an infrastructure function from the ground up
