About the role
We're looking for a Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer to own the path from an approved pull request to production, making it fast, safe, and repeatable many times a day.
This is an outcome-driven platform role.
What makes it different from a classic operations job is the level of end-to-end ownership.
You aren't here to pick up tickets or maintain static pipelines; you own our delivery throughput and reliability metrics (DORA) directly.
You will design, build, and optimize the internal systems that empower our engineering teams to ship code with high confidence, automating away manual friction and driving our transition toward a modern, self-service platform.
We are putting "you build it, you run it, you own it" into practice, not treating it as a slogan.
Product teams are moving toward running, operating and owning their own services, including the cost of them.
Your job is to build the platform, tooling and guardrails that make that a safe thing to ask of them, and to make the safe path the easy one.
We are also moving into agentic engineering.
AI agents that write, review and ship code are becoming a normal part of how we build, and that changes the shape of the delivery pipeline: more change arriving faster, and more of it needing automated verification rather than human gates.
You will help design that pipeline and then keep developing it as we learn what actually holds up in production.
There is no settled playbook for this yet, so we would rather build ours than wait for one.
Where you work: this role is open across Germany.
Hybrid or fully remote both work, depending on where you are based.
Our office is in Berlin and you are welcome to use it, but the role does not require you to be there.
You'll work directly with a small, senior engineering team and report to the Engineering Manager for the Enablement Bucket.
Few handoffs, short feedback loops, visible impact.
Responsibilities
Own release process & throughput: Design and manage CI/CD pipelines across CircleCI and GitHub Actions, driving the transition to a queue-based release model, automated rollbacks, and trustworthy DORA reporting.Manage Infrastructure as Code: Architect and maintain our AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform (monorepo scale on Terraform Cloud, multi-account setup via AWS Control Tower, ECS in production, EKS for tooling).Drive stability & reliability: Enhance system observability, set up actionable alerting and SLOs, participate in the shared on-call rotation, and act as incident commander when needed.Ensure security, compliance & FinOps: Lead technical requirements for C5 and PCI DSS compliance, automate CVE and dependency management (Renovate, Sentinel), and build per-team cost visibility (FinOps).Enable teams to run what they build: Build internal developer tooling, reproducible environments and guardrails so product teams can safely build, run and own their services end to end, cost included.Evolve delivery for agentic engineering: Design and continuously develop the pipeline and release flow for a world where AI agents contribute a growing share of the code, moving confidence from manual review gates to automated verification, and iterating on the model as we learn.
Requirements
Release Engineering & CI/CD Mastery: Proven track record of transforming slow release processes into fast, automated delivery pipelines (CircleCI, GitHub Actions) guided by DORA metrics.Hands-on Platform & Infrastructure Craft: Deep experience with AWS and Terraform at scale (multi-account, monorepo structures, Terraform Cloud, ECS/EKS).
Ability to write custom tooling and comfortably read/debug application code in at least one language.Production Operations Ownership: Solid background in managing production infrastructure, observability (metrics, tracing, logs), SLOs, and holding the pager as an incident responder.Autonomous Delivery: Ability to frame ambiguous problems, design solutions from scratch, and deliver measurable outcomes without needing pre-written specs or micro-management.Collaborative Mindset: Strong communication skills to drive alignment across DevOps, QA, and product engineering teams without relying on top-down authority, and the written clarity to do it in a partly distributed setup.
Nice to have
Experience with trunk-based development or merge-queue workflows.Familiarity with PCI DSS, C5, ISO 27001, or GDPR compliance frameworks.Experience with Policy-as-Code (Terraform Sentinel) and dependency automation (Renovate).Exposure to FinOps, Ruby on Rails, or JavaScript environments. Background in high-transaction SaaS, payments, or creator economy platforms.Experience integrating AI coding agents or LLM tooling into a real delivery pipeline, and adapting the pipeline to the change in volume and risk.Experience helping product teams take on ownership and on-call for services they built.German language skills.
Who Thrives Here
You are proactive by default, low on ego, and focused on outcomes rather than rigid processes.
You view yourself as an enabler rather than a gatekeeper, favoring pragmatic, incremental improvements over endless rebuilds.
You are comfortable working where the playbook doesn't exist yet, and you enjoy small, senior teams, whether that's from our Berlin office or your own desk elsewhere in Germany.
You take full responsibility for what you build and want to see its immediate impact on developer experience.
