A Senior Software Engineer is sought to join a small, high-ownership engineering team building a modern digital platform from scratch. You will work across TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Next.js, with opportunities to contribute to mobile development, cloud infrastructure, APIs, distributed systems, and background workflows. The role is remote-first with occasional team meetups.

Highlights

Remote-first senior engineering role with strong ownership and direct influence over product and technical decisions. The position offers substantial autonomy in a small engineering team, a broad full-stack scope, competitive compensation, benefits, and generous annual leave.

Description

Senior Software Engineer | £65,000–£85,000 + benefits + 28 days holiday (+ bank holidays) | Remote-first in England, the team meet up once a month in London max. Do you want real ownership in a small, strong engineering team where you can genuinely influence what gets built and how it gets built? You’ll join as the second engineer, working directly alongside the Founding Engineer with genuine ownership across the product rather than being one engineer in a massive team. They’re building a modern discount platform for 18–25 year olds, similar to UNiDAYS or Blue Light Card, and the entire platform has been built from scratch. You’ll work across: TypeScript / Node.jsReact / Next.jsReact NativeGCP (open to AWS)VercelAPIs / Cloud FunctionsDistributed systems & background workflows Ideally you are a full-stack engineer across TypeScript, Node.js React, Next.js with a little bit of mobile who enjoys taking ownership and solving problems. You don’t need everything else in the stack. I’ve included it to give you visibility of the environment you’ll be working in. They’re also very AI-native. They want engineers who use AI to move faster, but who have the engineering fundamentals to understand, challenge and take ownership of what it produces rather than blindly relying on it. It’s a small team of around 8–9 people, so you’ll be expected to muck in, challenge ideas and have a real say in how the product and engineering function develop. As they grow, there’s scope to move into mentoring, hiring and technical leadership. It’s remote-first anywhere in the UK, with roughly 1 day a month in London for team time. They also offer flexible hours and care more about output than sticking rigidly to 9–5. Circa £65,000–£85,000 base + 28 days holiday + bank holidays + benefits Interested? Please apply below, even if you don’t have an up-to-date CV. We can cross that bridge later.
