We are looking for a Software Backend Engineer to take full ownership of Fourvenues operational engine. This role will be responsible for designing, scaling and optimizing all core operational functions, ensuring alignment across departments and countries. Location: Valencia / Madrid (hybrid model) Report to: CTO What You’ll Be Doing... Design and develop modular and reusable architectures, applying best practices to ensure scalability, maintainability and long-term code quality.Implement and structure Hexagonal Architecture and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to organise the codebase into clear layers, ensuring proper separation between the application, domain and infrastructure layers.Manage real-time communication through sockets, ensuring requests and responses are handled efficiently and reliably.Integrate and consume RESTful APIs using Express and manage JSON-formatted data, structuring backend services to provide clear and easy-to-consume endpoints for frontend applications.Work with both relational and non-relational databases. Manage CRUD operations (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE) using Express controllers and connecting them to databases such as MongoDB or PostgreSQL through Mongoose or similar tools, ensuring data persistence, integrity and consistency.Write integration and end-to-end tests to ensure features and services behave as expected, using tools such as Mocha, Chai or Jest.Develop unit tests to validate business logic across controllers and services, ensuring code quality through specific and reliable testing of individual functions and services. What we need from you... At least 5 years of proven experience as a Software Engineer, working on demanding, high-performance projects where engineering excellence is a priority.Strong problem-solving skills using JavaScript and TypeScript, with the ability to confidently tackle complex logical challenges.Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, ideally working with recent versions, as well as solid knowledge of Express.Experience with Hexagonal Architecture, software engineering best practices and clean code principles will be highly valued.We are looking for autonomous and proactive teammates who enjoy taking on challenges and are willing to go the extra mile.
