Build the software core of intelligent machines that automate quality inspection in a highly regulated environment. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will write substantial amounts of code, solve complex system-level problems, understand how the full system fits together, and make software robust enough to scale across many deployed machines. Your work will have a tangible impact beyond the screen, controlling physical equipment and processing large volumes of visual data.

Highlights

High ownership, hands-on coding, challenging technical problems, direct interaction with physical automated systems, and the opportunity to build software that operates real-world machinery at scale.

Description

At Luo, we build machines that automate quality inspections of medicine. In many pharmacies, people still spend hours looking at products to find defects. It’s tiring and humans make mistakes. We build machines that do this job more accurately and consistently. We’ve proven that our technology works, and multiple machines are already running at client sites. Scaling this technology to more sites, more clients and more countries asks a lot of the core of our machines: the software. The Role With this in mind, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who loves to build. At Luo, "Senior" means you are the person who understands how the whole system fits together. You’ll spend your time writing code, solving tough technical problems, and making sure our software is ready to scale. Something we like a lot, is that the code is not only living on a screen: it’s controlling real machines, with an impressive number of movements and photos. When you test something, you can see it work in real life as the hardware reacts to your logic. What you’ll work on Improving the system: Write clean Python code for our core applications so they stay reliable as we deploy more machines.System Architecture: Design how our software layers talk to each other. making sure the "brain" (our detection models), the "eyes" (our inspection setup) and the “arms” (the robot arms we use) work together smoothly.Reliability: Build automated tests and CI/CD pipelines. You make sure that when we update a machine, it just works.Hands-on Fixing: Dive into the details to fix bottlenecks in performance or data flow.Deployment Tools: Build the tools we use to develop, install and update software and detection models on machines all over the world.Tech Choices: Help us decide which technologies are worth using and which are just distractions. What it’s like to work here Delft: We are based in a major tech hub. It’s an energetic environment with cool companies nearby and plenty of tech events.Real Impact: You aren't just a small part in a big system. Your code directly determines how our machines perform in the real world.A Solid Team: You’ll work with smart people who are focused on building things that actually help people in the field. What we are looking for Python is a must: You know Python inside out and have used it to build production-grade software for > 5 years.Rust is a plus: We use Rust for performance-critical parts, so experience here is a big advantage.Industrial experience: If you’ve worked with advanced software stacks that run on machines, sensors, or hardware before, you'll feel right at home.Practical mindset: You prefer a working solution over a perfect theory. You’re happy to "get your hands dirty" in the code.Independence: You don’t need someone to tell you what to do. You realize the vision and see what needs to be done.Direct & Honest: We value transparency. If something is a risk or won't work, you say it early.Dutch/EER working permit Ready to build something real? Send your CV and a short intro to jobs@luoautomation.com.
