About the role We are seeking an Hands-on DevOps/Platform Architect to lead the modernization of a complex engineering tooling ecosystem. The environment contains a significant number of business-critical legacy applications and services that require modernization to improve maintainability, operational efficiency, security, and scalability. This role combines architecture leadership with technical execution. The successful candidate will assess the current landscape, define modernization strategies, design target architectures, and actively participate in implementation activities including containerization, automation, and platform engineering initiatives. Unlike a traditional architect role, this position requires an individual who can move seamlessly between strategic planning and hands-on technical delivery. Responsibilities Assess legacy tooling landscapes and identify modernization opportunities.Develop target-state architectures and migration roadmaps.Define containerization and platform strategies.Evaluate technical risks, dependencies, and constraints.Establish engineering standards and architectural principles.Drive technology selection and design decisions.Build proof-of-concepts and reference architectures.Containerize legacy applications and engineering tools.Design and implement Kubernetes-based platforms.Develop automation solutions and CI/CD pipelines.Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application challenges.Mentor engineering teams on modern platform practices.Translate technical challenges into business outcomes.Work closely with engineering, operations, and product teams.Balance modernization objectives with operational stability.Influence and guide technology decisions across multiple teams. Requirements 9+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or software architecture.Proven experience modernizing legacy applications and platforms.Demonstrated experience defining architecture and delivering solutions hands-on.Strong Linux administration expertise.Deep understanding of containerization technologies: Docker, KubernetesStrong automation and scripting skills: Python, BashExperience with Git, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform)Ability to perform architecture assessments and create modernization roadmaps.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Knowledge of security architecture principles.
