Role Description The Senior Cloud Engineer (Alkan Oman Muscat) will design, implement, and optimize cloud-based infrastructure solutions that support mission-critical systems for regional clients. This full-time, on-site role in Muscat involves architecting and maintaining scalable, secure cloud environments, managing Linux-based servers, and integrating databases and applications to ensure high availability and performance. The Senior Cloud Engineer will collaborate with software development and infrastructure teams to automate deployments, improve system reliability, and implement best practices for monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery. This role also includes troubleshooting complex cloud and infrastructure issues, advising on cloud adoption and migration strategies, and contributing to technical documentation and standards. The engineer will work closely with stakeholders to align cloud solutions with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Good knowledge of OpenStack solutions such as Red Hat OpenStack platform including Cinder integration with SAN storage, configure OpenStack API services proxy server, neutron integration and Node Director service.Administration of Red Hat OpenStack platform (Add/delete/upgrade compute nodes, maintain controller nodes, manage networks, subnets, routers, security groups, images, instances, volumes, snapshots, etc.)Deploy and Manage KVM hypervisor servers (build KVM servers, create VMs, migrate VMs, manage KVM Management VLANs, manage and customize OS images, etc.)Configure and manage Ansible server for automation and administration tasks.Configure and manage Red Hat Satellite to manage all OS related updates, sync repos, add hosts, manage keys and manage subscriptions including upgrading Red Hat Satellite to the latest versions.Configure and manage cluster ready serviceConfigure and manage maximum availability architecture to the cloud by Disaster Recovery setup (using RSYNC, HOST to HOST replications and SAN replication etc.)Upgrade Red Hat OpenStack in the DR environment from version 16.2 to 17.1.Ensure that workloads in the DR environment remain operational throughout the upgrade.Provide necessary assistance for live migration, managed by a third-party tool through another vendor.Provide second-line support for Red Hat OpenStack and other Red Hat systems as necessary.
