The Role We are looking for a hands-on Senior Full-Stack Web Engineer to serve as the principal technical authority for our core engineering pod at giles®. You will own the architectural roadmap, bridge the gap between product vision and technical execution, and ensure the scalability of our AI-integrated platforms. You will actively contribute to the product’s strategy, architecture, and execution. What You'll Do Lead the design, development (this is a hand-on role), and deployment of backend and frontend web systems in production environments. Act as the primary technical decision-maker, leading discussions on algorithm selection, experimentation, and trade-offs. Build and maintain accessible, responsive UI components across mobile and desktop. Ensure high-quality standards through testing, documentation, and rigorous CI/CD pipelines. Collaborate closely with AI, QA, UI/UX, and product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. Guide and mentor junior engineers through code reviews, best practices, and technical direction. Technical Requirements Core Engineering & Backend (Primary Focus) Strong proficiency in NodeJS, including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns. Experience building REST APIs and WebSocket-based systems. Deep experience with NodeJS, Express + Typescript, and Jest. Experience with databases, specifically Postgres (or other SQL databases) and MongoDB. Familiarity with distributed systems and messaging, including Kafka and Redis. Experience with Docker (Kubernetes is a plus) and CI/CD pipelines. Frontend (Secondary Focus) Experience with React, Typescript, and React-query. Experience with Tailwind CSS, Vite, Figma, and Lighthouse CI. Experience building or maintaining internal component libraries and accessibility standards. Cloud & Advanced GCP preferred (others acceptable with willingness to learn GCP). Experience with GCS (Google cloud storage), TTS (Text to speech), and STT (Speech to text). Familiarity with Terraform, Artillery (for load testing), Stripe, and SSE (server sent events). Experience building streaming AI integrations and familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP). Proven experience delivering robust systems to production. A hands-on person who can build and ship, not just design. Someone comfortable navigating evolving landscapes.
