Job Title: Backend Engineer - GCP & Big Data Platform Introduction: (Only for candidates residing in Japan) Scale massive e-commerce AI platforms at Japan’s premier digital leader in Tokyo! Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain high-throughput REST APIs and scalable backend microservices on GCP and on-premise infrastructure.Productionize machine learning models and integrate AI-driven product enrichment features alongside data science teams.Develop automated CI/CD pipelines, robust unit/integration testing suites, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.Monitor service health, analyze performance bottlenecks, and optimize system reliability, security, and cloud usage.Translate complex e-commerce data requirements into scalable technical architectures while following modern software engineering practices. Requirements: 5+ years of software engineering experience focusing on production-grade backend development and API design.Hands-on expertise building scalable systems on Google Cloud Platform.Strong proficiency in modern backend languages and frameworks (such as Python with FastAPI or Flask).Proven track record with Git workflows, automated testing methodologies, and standard CI/CD deployment pipelines. Desired Skills: Hands-on experience with Docker containerization, Kubernetes orchestration (GKE), and Terraform infrastructure automation.Exposure to big data processing frameworks and data workflow tools.Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or GCP Cloud Monitoring.Experience working in Agile/Scrum engineering environments with a strong product ownership mindset.
