✨ AI‑Generated
Become a founding product engineer at a pre-seed AI startup where much of the product is still to be built. You will combine engineering with product and growth ownership: ship features, instrument them, analyze results, and make decisions based on evidence. The role suits someone who has moved beyond ticket-based engineering toward measurable product outcomes and experimentation.
Highlights
Founding-level ownership at an early-stage AI startup, with significant influence over product direction and growth. The role offers £75,000–£80,000 plus equity and benefits, with a senior team and a strong build-and-experiment culture.
Description
An exciting opportunity to join a pre-seed AI native startup founded by an exited founder.
We're hiring their Founding Product Engineer (Growth & Experimentation).
London, hybrid two days a week in the office.
£75,000 to £80,000 plus equity and benefits.
THE COMPANY
They're building the senior AI employee for small business owners.
It plugs into the tools they already use, watches what they commit to, and drafts the work they owe: client updates, proposals, reports, ready to approve
Small, senior team, shipping weekly.
Almost everything is still to be built, and you'd be building it.
THE ROLE
You're technical, and at some point, you moved closer to the number.
Maybe you came up through engineering, maybe through research, but somewhere along the way you took a product or growth role and started owning outcomes rather than tickets.
You build the feature, instrument it, read the data yourself, and come back with a verdict rather than a dashboard for someone else to interpret.
Roughly 70% building, 30% analysis.
No PM hands you a spec.
This is a founding-level seat, so you'll shape how the team builds, measures and decides.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
The activation funnel.
Find where users lose momentum, form the hypothesis, ship the fix yourself, prove it worked.Experiments that actually settle things.
A/B tests behind feature flags (GrowthBook, PostHog, Statsig) with the statistical read to match: sizing, significance, guardrailsProduct, end to end.
TypeScript, React, APIs and the database underneath.
Shipped in days rather than sprints. The numbers.
A clean event taxonomy in Amplitude or similar, and SQL you write yourself.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
A technical background with proven AI applications experience.
Engineering or research, with production TypeScript and React, or the clear ability to get there fast.Time spent leading product or growth.
You've owned a funnel and a number, not just a backlog.Real funnel optimisation and A/B testing.
You've designed the test, read the result honestly, and killed your own idea when it didn't hold up.Genuinely analytical.
You design the tracking plan, not just query it.
SQL is a daily tool, not a favour you ask of someone else.AI you've built with and measured.
LLM or agent products, prompt engineering, evals, and a view on where these systems are genuinely unreliable.
Nice to have: Python for analysis, SMB or self serve products, chat native products, OAuth integrations, design taste for the surfaces you ship.
