Role Purpose We're seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to work across multiple delivery squads within our TSS Engineering Chapter. This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Security Engineering and AWS architecture. You'll take ownership of complex cross-functional initiatives across CI/CD, container orchestration, automation and cloud governance, while helping to establish engineering standards and best practices. As a technical specialist rather than a people manager, you'll also mentor engineers, share expertise, and help build capability across the chapter. Working closely with engineering communities in areas such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Identity and Cloud Architecture, you'll play a key role in promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing and technical excellence across teams. Key Responsibilities Work where your expertise adds the most value No two weeks will look the same in this role. You'll work across multiple squads, supporting a range of technical challenges and priorities. One week you may be architecting a Kubernetes upgrade with the Platform team, the next helping improve observability across Cloud Infrastructure, or partnering with DevSecOps on secrets management and security controls. We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, can move confidently between technical domains, and sees broad exposure as an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Build And Evolve Cloud Platform Capabilities Design, implement and improve AWS infrastructure, including networking, IAM, security controls and container platforms such as Kubernetes. You'll contribute to technically complex initiatives spanning infrastructure, CI/CD, automation, identity management and cloud governance, ensuring solutions remain secure, scalable and compliant. Share knowledge and grow capability Help build engineering capability across the Chapter by mentoring colleagues, facilitating knowledge sharing and promoting best practices. You'll contribute to communities of practice in areas such as Infrastructure-as-Code, Kubernetes, Identity and Cloud Architecture, helping teams adopt modern approaches and develop their technical expertise. Drive reliability, efficiency and governance Work with teams to optimise cloud spend, improve observability, and establish effective monitoring and alerting. You'll help balance innovation with operational reliability, security and regulatory requirements. Shape technical standards and architecture Contribute to architecture decisions, engineering standards and platform strategy. You'll help translate business needs into practical technical solutions and support engineers in understanding how infrastructure, platform, identity and security capabilities work together. Embed security by design Security will be a key consideration in everything you do. Working closely with Cyber Engineering, you'll help establish secure-by-default patterns, implement least-privilege access controls, and build compliance and audit requirements into infrastructure solutions. You'll promote security as an enabler of delivery, helping teams move quickly while maintaining strong controls. Essential Skills and experience 5+ years' hands-on Cloud Platform Engineering experience, with AWS as a primary focusExpert knowledge of AWS architecture, services and best practices; AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification (or equivalent experience)Strong Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) skills using Terraform, AWS CDK or similar tools, with experience applying IaC within engineering teamsDemonstrable experience designing, implementing and operating secure, scalable VPC architecturesHands-on experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms such as ECS or FargateExpertise in CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or similar modern toolingProficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and toolingExperience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical standards, best practices and knowledge sharingProven ability to collaborate across multiple teams and deliver complex, interconnected technical workstreamsExperience working within regulated, security-focused or highly governed environmentsComfortable operating as a technical specialist across multiple squads, supporting a variety of priorities and initiatives Desirable Experience working in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure and/or GCP)Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform experience, such as Okta, Entra ID or federation patternsExperience optimising cloud costs and implementing FinOps practicesUnderstanding of DevSecOps principles and security-first infrastructure designExposure to microservices and distributed architecture patternsExperience using GenAI tools and code generation platforms, such as Claude or GitHub CopilotFamiliarity with Cyber Security Engineering principles and best practices Admiral: Where You Can We take pride in being a diverse and inclusive business.
