Summary
✨ AI‑Generated
Join a very early-stage startup as the first dedicated engineer, taking ownership of architecture, operations, security, and the technical foundation of an AI-native business platform. You will define robust engineering practices, ensure enterprise-grade reliability and security, and work closely with the founding team to turn an ambitious technical vision into a scalable system.
Highlights
Founding-level technical ownership with broad influence over architecture, operations, and security. Opportunity to shape engineering practices and work closely with the founders in an early-stage environment.
Description
We build SteerSuite as a two-person team, with no engineer on staff: we design, AI agents write and test the code, we sign off on it.
What's missing is someone who owns technical responsibility: architecture, operations, security.
An agent can't do that, and no customer's IT department accepts one as their point of contact.
Who we are
SteerSuite makes companies AI-native.
Our digital office is called SteerSuite HQ: people and AI agents work on the same tasks there, and we run our own company on it.
A patent application for the technical core is pending with the German Patent Office (DPMA).
Founded in February 2026.
Behind it are two founders: Sakis Tabakis (Bochum, 16 years of digitalization and finance leadership, including Schneider Electric and E.ON) and Julian Rosen (Miami, 15 years at EY), backed by an advisory board with backgrounds at Apple, Google and Schneider Electric.
What you'll do
Own the architecture: a hub-and-spoke core with an immutable ledger, tenant isolation on a platform that handles sensitive customer data.Operations and security: alerting, incidents, rollback on Azure.
Pass customer reviews from the first enterprise conversation on, including security questionnaires and pentests.Sign-off: you decide what ships to production.Review AI-written code before it touches customer data.
Your leverage is oversight, not the keyboard.
Who you are
You've run a multi-tenant SaaS in production.
3am pages are nothing new to you.Azure, PostgreSQL, row-level security: your everyday tools. You've been through a security audit or a customer due diligence before. You're comfortable without a team.
Your leverage is the oversight you bring to what AI builds for you.
Nice to have, not required: ISO 27001 or SOC 2 experience.
What you get
A production system, mostly built by agents.
You decide what ships from day one.A direct line to both founders, no layer in between.
You manage your own time.Equity: we'll discuss whether and how before the first conversation.Miami: you're invited to the launch this fall, travel and stay on us.Compensation: we'll share the range before the first interview.
The setup
Part-time or full-time (50–100%), you tell us what fits.
Start immediately, remote from Germany, occasional on-site in Bochum or Düsseldorf, we cover travel costs.
This role is built to last: it grows with us from the first seat on the core team into a permanent engineering lead role.
Application
No Cover Letter.
We Want To See Two Things
Your CV.
Optional: GitHub, a system design, or a post-mortem you've written.Exactly two bullet points: the biggest system you've operated, and an outage you were on the hook for, plus what you changed afterward.
Send to career@steersuite.com, subject line "Founding Engineer".
We reply within three business days, followed by two conversations: one about the system, one at the code.
