About Chyron
Chyron is a global leader in products, services, and solutions for professional broadcast and live production.
Our products help create content viewed by audiences around the world every day across television, news, sports, corporate, government, house of worship, esports, and education markets.
Product Summary
Chyron Video Core is a new, largely greenfield application providing shared video I/O, routing, synchronization, switching, and compositing capabilities across the company’s product portfolio.
Its modern, extensible architecture will create a common foundation for integrating video hardware, network streams, and external rendering engines.
This will help standardize video workflows across a diverse range of company products while supporting reliable, frame-accurate, low-latency operation on Windows and Linux.
Role Summary
We are looking for a mid-level C++ developer to help shape the architecture and implement Video Core using modern C++ standards and engineering practices.
You will work closely with an experienced senior C++ engineer who provides architectural guidance and technical support.
The role is suited to someone who can work independently, contribute to technical decisions, and take ownership of substantial components while continuing to develop their skills.
Previous broadcast or video-domain experience is welcome but not required.
The role requires a regular onsite presence at our Brno office to facilitate hands-on work with SDI hardware and laboratory testing environments.
Responsibilities
Design and implement new Chyron Video Core functionality using modern C++.Contribute to architectural and technical decisions with guidance from senior engineers.Develop shared video I/O, routing, synchronization, switching, and compositing components.Integrate with SDI, NDI, SMPTE ST 2110, streaming, and external-rendering workflows.Support video hardware from vendors such as Blackmagic, Deltacast, and Matrox.Help deliver reliable, frame-accurate, low-latency processing on Windows and Linux.Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.Diagnose performance, synchronization, hardware-integration, and runtime issues.Review and improve selected existing components where they can support the new platform.Collaborate with Product Management, QA, Support, and other development teams.
Must Haves
Solid professional experience developing software in modern C++.Understanding of multithreading, synchronization, and thread safety.Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.A systematic approach to code quality, testing, troubleshooting, and stabilization.Willingness to work with hardware-connected workflows and onsite testing environments.Ability to work independently and communicate effectively within a collaborative engineering team.A degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
Experience with SDI, NDI, or other professional video technologies.Experience with OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan, or GPU-resource sharing.Familiarity with Blackmagic, Deltacast, Matrox, or similar video I/O hardware.Understanding of SMPTE ST 2110 or other IP-based production workflows.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, or build automation.Experience developing broadcast, media, or other real-time systems.
What We Offer
The opportunity to help build a new foundational platform for professional broadcast products.Meaningful involvement in the technical direction and implementation of a largely greenfield project.Close collaboration with experienced engineers and teams across the company.Exposure to SDI, NDI, SMPTE ST 2110, GPU processing, and professional video workflows.A practical engineering environment where reliability, maintainability, and long-term product quality matter.
