OpenValue AI is a new cel inside the OpenValue Group, and the strategy behind it is deliberate: pair deep JVM craft with serious agentic practice, because the people who should be leading the AI transformation in software are the ones who already know what production-grade software costs to build and to keep running.
Not one or the other.
Both, in the same engineer.
It works.
We know what separates a demo from a system that survives contact with production.
We know which parts of a delivery workflow agents genuinely improve and which ones they quietly wreck.
We know how to get a skeptical engineering team to actually change the way it works.
Demand for that is growing faster than we are.
So we are hiring engineers who are already living this.
You have run agents against real codebases, seen exactly where they break, and formed opinions about it.
Now you want to do that work at higher leverage.
Not just for your own team, but for client teams who need someone to show them how.

Four things, and most weeks you will touch more than one.
โข Build agentic systems for clients.
Real production systems with real users, not demos.
Agent architectures, tool and MCP integrations, retrieval that holds up under load, evals that tell you the truth, guardrails and observability so someone can actually operate the thing at 3am.
โข Guide client teams through their AI transformation.
This is the part most consultancies cannot do.
You will sit with a team that is somewhere between skeptical and overexcited, work out what is genuinely worth automating, set up the practices that make agentic development safe, and bring their engineers along with you.
You need to be able to convince a principal engineer who thinks this is all hype, and to slow down a CTO who wants agents merging to main by Friday.
โข Ship Java and Kotlin, AI-augmented.
Our foundation has not changed.
You still write excellent code in the JVM ecosystem for demanding clients.
You just do it with a fundamentally different toolchain, and you are the one figuring out what that toolchain should be.
โข Push our own practice forward.
Internal R&D, tooling, evaluation harnesses, playbooks, the opinionated stuff we take to clients.
Whatever we learn on Monday gets written up, argued about, and turned into something reusable.
We publish, we speak, we run meetups.
If you have something to say, you get a stage.

โข 5+ years building software in Java or Kotlin, and you are genuinely good at it.
This is the non-negotiable one.
Agentic tooling amplifies engineering judgment, it does not replace it.
โข You are already deep in agentic engineering.
You use agentic coding tools daily, you have opinions about context engineering and harness engineering, and you have a story about the time an agent confidently destroyed something.
โข You understand the difference between a demo and a system.
Evals, observability, cost, latency, failure modes, review workflows.
โข Strong foundation in the surrounding stack: Spring or Quarkus, CI/CD, cloud (AWS or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes), relational and NoSQL databases, event-driven architectures.
Front-end experience is a plus.
โข You can explain your reasoning to people who disagree with you, in a room, without being condescending about it.
Consulting is a craft too.
โข You live near one of our offices and speak/learn the local language.
โข You want to share what you know.
Meetups, conferences, blogs, training.
Experience here is a big plus, appetite is the requirement.

Agentic Coding tools daily.
Custom Agent communication systems and skills.
MCPs, Rules and Workflows.
Spring AI and LangChain4j on the JVM side.
Our own eval harness.
Java 21+, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, AWS.
New tools being added every month.
You will change some of this within your first month.
That is the point.

โข A team of max.
25 people where everyone knows each other and you have a direct line to management.
Built by developers, for developers.
โข Part of the OpenValue Group, 17 teams strong, with senior expertise across the JVM ecosystem that few companies can match.
โข Colleagues who are Java Champions and Google Developer Experts, and partnerships with Anthropic, AWS, Azul and JetBrains.
โข Room to be early.
This cel is being built right now, which means your fingerprints end up on how we work, what we build, and who we hire next.
โข Competitive compensation including profit sharing, and an immediate permanent contract.
โข Flexible hours, hybrid work in consultation with your project, and a personal development plan with real budget behind it.
โข Active connections to JUGs and developer communities across the country.
We will happily introduce you to the sharpest people in the field.
โข Ski trips, hackathons, and the kind of team that argues about architecture over a beer.
