UniqCast is looking for a System Engineer to join our Technical Support team and help operate business-critical IPTV/OTT platforms that deliver 24/7 streaming services.
About the roleYou will investigate technical issues, support production changes, and help keep customer platforms stable and available.
The role covers operating systems, containers, networking, databases, automation, and high-availability components, with close collaboration across Support, Development, Delivery, Product, and customer stakeholders.
We are looking for engineers who already have hands-on experience in system administration, infrastructure operations, or technical support of production systems.
Your responsibilities and level of autonomy will reflect the depth of your experience.
Engineers with deeper production expertise will independently lead advanced L2/L3 cases, production changes, and platform recovery activities while sharing knowledge across the team.
What you’ll work onDepending on your experience, you will contribute to or take ownership of the following areas:
Investigate production issues and work with customers and internal teams to bring cases to resolution.Prepare and deliver production upgrades and configuration changes, with testing, rollback plans, and post-change checks.Operate and troubleshoot Linux and Windows services using logs, monitoring data, and service-level diagnostics.Deploy, scale, and troubleshoot containerized services in Docker Swarm.Diagnose TCP/IP and multicast issues with tcpdump and Wireshark, and implement controlled mitigations with iptables and HAProxy.Automate recurring operational tasks with Ansible and scripting to reduce manual work and improve reliability.Improve platform stability through scaling, load balancing, and targeted configuration changes.Troubleshoot the databases, caching, messaging, search, and high-availability services that support the platform.Participate in disaster-recovery deployments, restore systems, and verify recovered services.Document solutions through incident records, runbooks, and knowledge base articles, and share knowledge with the team.What we’re looking forPrevious hands-on experience supporting systems, infrastructure, or production applications.Hands-on Linux administration and confident use of the command-line environment.Practical knowledge of TCP/IP networking and a structured approach to network troubleshooting.Experience working with Docker and containerized services.Scripting or automation skills using Bash, Python, or similar tools.Curiosity, resourcefulness, and a genuine interest in systems engineering, infrastructure, and streaming technologies.A structured and analytical approach to troubleshooting.A willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and take on greater responsibility over time.Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.A collaborative and responsible approach, including knowing when to take ownership and when to ask for support.Technologies you’ll work withDocker Swarm, Kubernetes, and Ansible.PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis/KeyDB, Elasticsearch, and OpenSearch.HAProxy, IPVS, iptables, multicast, and IGMP.Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Jira.Windows Server and IPTV/OTT or other video-delivery platforms.You are not expected to know every technology listed.

Employment and working conditionsLocation: Zagreb, Croatia (Vrbani 4)Employment: Full-time, permanent employment contractWork model: Hybrid, with regular on-site collaboration in our Zagreb office and flexibility to work from home based on team arrangementsOn-call rotation only for issues with critical severity: On-call duty is scheduled no more than once per month.
Every hour spent on standby is paid, and time spent actively responding to an incident is additionally compensated as overtime.
