Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d)

Our clients include national and regional media companies as well as businesses from other industries that rely on a scalable and high-performance infrastructure for digital publishing. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team as soon as possible. Tasks Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for our content platform using Python, and FastAPI Build reliable pipelines that transform raw and heterogeneous data into structured, production-ready content Develop and integrate production-grade LLM workflows, including prompting, structured outputs, embeddings, similarity search, and evaluation Build resilient integrations with third-party APIs, REST services, and webhooks Design and maintain asynchronous processing workflows using queues, and Redis Contribute to our TypeScript services where needed Contribute to architecture, code quality, technical standards, and continuous improvement of our backend stack Requirements 6+ years of professional backend engineering experience Strong Python expertise, including FastAPI and pydantic Working knowledge of TypeScript — enough to read, debug, and contribute to our TypeScript services Experience with AI automation — building systems that integrate, govern, or orchestrate LLM-driven workflows, not just calling an API Experience with Redis and message queue based asynchronous processing Strong testing discipline (pytest) and track record of owning features end-to-end, from architecture through delivery Nice-to-have TypeScript/Node.js experience, e.g. with frameworks such as NestJS AWS or other cloud infrastructure experience Experience with data pipelines handling heterogeneous/unstructured input Familiarity with vector search / embedding stores Prior experience integrating with third-party content or media APIs Benefits Creative Freedom and Responsibility: You’ll have genuine freedom to actively help shape and further develop our digital products, workflows, and formats Meaningful Work: The opportunity to contribute to a challenging environment Secure Future: Permanent employment with a trust-based work schedule and a high degree of personal responsibility Work in the heart of Berlin: A modern office right on Alexanderplatz with an impressive view of the city and excellent public transportation connections Appreciative corporate culture: An open, collegial atmosphere where individual perspectives matter and teamwork is a way of life Personal and professional growth: Opportunities for growth and the chance to take on more responsibility and develop new skills We look forward to receiving your application!
