Java Developer – Trading Technology Location: London Software Engineering | Java | High-Performance Systems We are recruiting an experienced Java Developer to join a highly talented engineering team building sophisticated, high-performance trading technology used across global financial markets. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and wants to work on scalable, distributed and performance-critical systems. You’ll work across front-to-back trading infrastructure covering areas such as order management, exchange connectivity, smart order routing, internalisation and clearing. What you’ll be doing: • Designing, developing and maintaining high-performance trading systems • Building robust, scalable software primarily using Java • Improving the scalability, performance and efficiency of existing infrastructure • Developing technology capable of handling high volumes of transactions • Working on distributed and highly concurrent systems • Designing technical solutions to meet future business requirements • Collaborating with experienced engineers on complex technical challenges What we’re looking for: • Minimum 4 years’ commercial software development experience • Strong commercial Java development experience – this is essential • Excellent understanding of software engineering fundamentals • Experience designing and building distributed, scalable applications • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and object-oriented development • Experience developing performance-focused, production-grade software • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience Highly desirable: • Experience with highly concurrent or distributed systems • Low-latency or high-transaction environments • Python, Go or C++ experience alongside Java • Relational database experience • Financial markets or trading technology experience You do not need previous financial services experience.
