Volunteer Full-Stack Web Developer (PHP)

Role Description: Help us use technology to make world-class education more accessible. The Gift of Knowledge Foundation (GOKF) is looking for a skilled volunteer web developer with strong PHP and full-stack development experience to help us build, maintain, and improve the technology that supports our educational mission. As a volunteer developer, you'll have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise to meaningful projects with real-world social impact. You'll help develop reliable, accessible, secure, and user-friendly web applications while contributing to the digital infrastructure that will support GOKF's long-term growth. We are particularly interested in developers who are confident working with PHP and can independently take responsibility of technical challenges, improve existing systems, and turn ideas into robust working solutions. What We Expect From You: Strong web development and programming skills.Demonstrated experience building and maintaining web applications.Strong PHP development experience.Experience with front-end development and responsive web design.Experience with back-end development, APIs, and database integration.Familiarity with modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant frameworks or libraries.Experience with version control and collaborative development workflows.An understanding of accessibility standards, security best practices, and web performance optimization.The ability to work independently, manage agreed part-time hours, and communicate effectively in a remote environment.A problem-solving mindset and the ability to turn requirements and ideas into practical technical solutions. What You'll Do: Depending on your experience and the needs of the organization, your work may include: Building, maintaining, and improving GOKF's web applications and digital platforms.Developing PHP-based back-end functionality and server-side systems.Creating responsive, accessible, and user-friendly front-end experiences.Working with APIs, databases, and third-party integrations.Identifying technical problems and developing practical, maintainable solutions.Improving application security, performance, accessibility, and reliability.Contributing to technical planning, architecture, testing, documentation, and deployment.Working with colleagues across different disciplines to translate organizational and educational needs into effective technical solutions.Evaluating and recommending technologies and approaches that can strengthen GOKF's digital capabilities.Proposing and developing new ideas, features, and products that can advance GOKF's educational mission.
