About The Role We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Fullstack Web Developer (Placement) to join our Product Engineering team at NugiTech. This is an exciting opportunity for students currently pursuing a computing or IT-related degree and seeking a placement year to gain practical, hands-on experience in software development. As a placement student, you will work closely with experienced engineers to learn best practices, contribute to real projects, and develop your technical skills. Your responsibilities will include pairing with engineers on various tasks, handling front-end tickets, building simple APIs, writing basic tests, and deploying features that are used by actual users. Located at our Ealing (W5) London office, you will benefit from a hybrid working model supported by mentorship, code reviews, and structured learning pathways designed to maximize your professional growth. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should be currently enrolled in a degree program related to computing or IT and eligible for a placement year. You should possess foundational knowledge of HTTP, JSON, REST, and version control systems like Git. Familiarity with database technologies such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB is essential. Additionally, experience or interest in frontend frameworks like React, backend frameworks such as Express or Java Spring Boot, and testing tools like Jest is advantageous. Strong communication skills, curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn are key personal qualities. You should be proactive in seeking feedback and committed to continuous improvement. Responsibilities Your core responsibilities will include creating and consuming REST APIs using Node.js or Java Spring Boot, reading from and writing to databases, and fixing bugs or refactoring code for readability. You will be expected to add basic unit tests to ensure code quality and reliability, use Git and GitHub for version control, branches, pull requests, and code reviews. Following an agile workflow, you will pick tickets, estimate effort, develop solutions, and demonstrate results in team meetings. Collaboration with designers and product managers will be integral to understanding requirements and delivering features. You will also actively participate in sprint reviews, retrospectives, and feedback sessions to track your progress and identify areas for growth.
