The Specialist Software Engineer is focused on the design and development of web and cloud technologies to support an agile digital business.
Helps define web and cloud strategies, grow capabilities, and develops enterprise-wide solutions by providing technology leadership, insight on new developments within the application solution space, and guidance in design, framework, and platform decisions.
Responsibilities
Design and implement cloud-native architectures on AWS following Well-Architected Framework principlesBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and infrastructure provisioningDevelop serverless and containerized applications using Lambda, ECS/EKS, and API GatewayImplement Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation, CDK, or TerraformDesign and optimize data storage solutions (DynamoDB, RDS/Aurora, S3, ElastiCache)Establish security best practices including IAM policies, encryption, and network securityCollaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutionsLead analysis and complex architectural design across platforms toward the development of end-to-end solutions; translate architectural guidance into detailed technical design.Work collaboratively with other development staff, including contract and offshore Software Engineers, and business product owners in an agile environment.Serve as a subject matter expert for a wide range of areas, applications, and technologies.Recommend solutions which take into consideration costs, business needs, and system impacts.Learn and keep pace with the latest advances in the field and rapidly grasp new technologies to support the environment and contribute to project deliverables.Prepare presentations and lead development meetings.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, math, engineering, or other technical field, or equivalent experience6 years of software development experience with 5+ years focused on AWSDeep expertise in core AWS services: EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFront, Route 53Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform)Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, Node.js, Go, or similar)Experience designing event-driven architecture using SNS, SQS, EventBridge, or KinesisSolid understanding of networking (VPC design, security groups, NACLs, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink)Experience leveraging continuous integration/development tools (e.g.
Jenkins, Docker, Containers, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and container automation) in a CI/CD pipelineStrong knowledge of security best practices (IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, WAF)Experience with observability tools (CloudWatch, X-Ray, OpenTelemetry)Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS, EKS, Fargate)Expertise with Microservices and REST based API development (e.g.

Compensation
The Salary for this position generally ranges between $131,000 - $160,000 annually.
Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs.
Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.

This is a hybrid position requiring three days in office per week in one of our hub locations (Philadelphia, PA; Cedar Rapids, IA; Denver, CO).
